Going to be at Anaheim Convention Center next week for Gencon SoCal and will have some extra time on Thurs and Sunday. Is there any nearby poker rooms/casinos to play at? If not how far is one via cab or is just not practical without a rental car?

Only the best. Commerce. Bike. Hawaiian Gardens might be the closest. But none are very far. If you've never been I suggest you go to Commerce.

Is Commerce close enough to be a reasonable cab ride? Around the $20-$30 range?

No, it's about 20 miles up the 5 freeway. I drove from Commerce to Disneyland once and it took close to a half hour at night. You should rent a car.

14 miles straight up the 5. Commerce has a service. I got a ride for a tip. I think I gave him $35. I would of spent that in a cab, instead I got a town car.

I was in Buena Park which is the next town north of Anaheim

Hawaiian Gardens is a lot closer, about 11 to 12 miles by surface streets (just counted on my fingers and toes). Hawaiian Gardens is on Carson just East of the 605 freeway.

Commerce should be about 16 miles away, but the 5 freeway between the 605 and 91 is the first freeway south of LA to jam up.

I would also say that either Hawaiian Gardens or possibly OCEANS ELEVEN casino in Oceanside might be the closest depending on traffic.

No way Ocean's 11 is closest to that part of Anaheim. If you lived in Laguna Beach it might be.

You are right. Commerce is more like 20 miles away, as opposed to the 16 I mentioned elsewhere.

Bottom line is rent a car at enterprise(subcompact is like $20 a day or less) and drive to Commerce. Or get a ride /images/graemlins/smile.gif
