Shant, Moozch, and I are in a cab heading over to the bellagio one night. In the cab were talking about poker or something and the driver perks up and says 'oh you guys play poker? listen to this'.

The dirver (our hero) is playing 2/5 NL one night with a 100$ buyin. The first hand he looks down at JJ and pushes all in preflop, a crazy guy calls him and our hero doubles and has 200$ behind.

The very next hand he looks down at AA. The guy he just beat raises and our hero moves all in (minus 10$). He leaves 10$ behind so that he has enough money to pay the valet when he leaves. The flop comes J23 and our villian in this hand tells the cab driver to put the last of his 10$ in the pot.

The driver thinks for a bit and calls. They flip up their hands, AA vs KJ... the rest of the story I will quote from the cab driver:

'the turn was a 2 and the river was a ten'.

us: 'so you won?!?!'

hero: 'yes'

how is this not the best hand a random person has told you that involves AA?

Not if you work in the service industry like our hero. They know what's up with tipping. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

And he really, really loves that cab. Valet takes good care of it, he takes good care of the valet.

Best story in a long time. So tired of people talking about the end of the world when all that happened was someone hit a 9 out flush on the river. A story about a good hand winning, made me laugh, I'd tip the driver nicely.

I do remember that we were all completely surprised by the outcome.

Who wins with aces anyway?
