I can't imagine this is the best line. Can anyone give me a better one? Thanks.

The pre-flop raise is meh. Just call the river raise. The board is double paired. You have to ask yourself what worse hand calls your 3-bet, and after you are capped you can't call the river. I think you lost close to 2BBs by the river 3-bet/call there.

any reads on the player? If he was LAGgy at all I'd fold preflop. You should not be 3 betting the river.

Fold preflop unless he is too tight and just call the river, he will have a boat too often when he doesn´t fold to the 3bet.
