Hi,

Iīve followed the Foxwoods Act I,II & III post and I do think that this is a great idea of Foxwoods Casinos. Anyway, for those of us who donīt live close enough to Foxwoods this concept doesnīt help us at all.

I sure would love to play some of the bigger events from time to time. The biggest I can play are the World Heads Up Poker Championchip (buy in in the last three years: 2000, 3000 and 1000 + fees) and the E-WSOP (buy in 2000 + fee). All amounts in €. The reason why these are the only events I can play is simply the reason that they are held in the town where I live, Vienna. To travel arount half of the world to play some high stakes poker tourney is a pretty expensive way to live. I do travel once or twice a year to the USA to play some poker and do some sightseeing, but this is all payed by money I win playing poker in the internet. Travel budgets for 7-10 days are usually between $ 4k and 6k for my wife and me. Absolutely not enough to play in some high stakes tourneys.

Anyway, Iīd really love to play some of these bigger tourneys. Hey, a possible payday of 200k or more doesnīt seem to be too bad at all, does it? I donīt want to say that I would feel myself a favorite to win any money in the WPT events at all, but it is possible. After all, poker is still a mix of skill and luck. Why not be lucky in a WPT event?

OK, so here is what I was thinking of. The idea of playing small buy in satellites would be possible online, too. Maybe there would be an online pokersite who would be willing to hold such satellites. Structures could be as follows:

For 10k buy in events:

1st round: buy in 60 + fee. 10 players make 600 price pool.2 qualifiers for round 2 getting 300 each.

2nd round: Buy in 300 plus fee (no fee for players who qualified via round 1). 10 players make 3000 price pool. 1st gets 2500, 2nd and 3rd 250 back.

3rd round: Buy in 2500 plus fee (no fee for qualified players). 10 players make 25.000 price pool. 1st and 2nd get the buy in of 10.000 and 2.500 for expenses.

For the 5k buy in events you just have to start with 30 buy in events for the first round (buy in for 3rd round would be 1.250 of course).

I think that there would be lots of potential players out there. Iīd love to have these events at PartyPoker, simply for the fact that there are sooooo many fishes out there who Iīm sure of to be willing to spend $60 and maybe even $300 for these satellites. I play lots of 50 and 100 buy in 1 table satellites over there, so I think I know what Iīm talking about. The downside is that Party has its own event (PPM), and I doubt that they would be willing to host an event which would be a competition to the PPM. But if there would be a huge interest for it, who knows. Iīve heard that Party makes big advertising at the televised events of the WPT. Wouldnīt it be an even better (and WAY CHEAPER) advertising if somebody at a televised WPT event would wear PartyPoker items? (Just like Mr. Moneymaker did at the WSOP) So maybe we would have some chance to get this thing going.

PokerStars would be an obvious possibility too, but for several reasons I woulndīt want it to be on PokerStars.

a) There arenīt as many fishes as on Party, so it would be way tougher to qualifie

b) They donīt spread 10handed HE tables, so the buy in would have to be significantly higher.

c) Lots of players believe PokerStars to be rigged. It doesenīt matter whether itīs true or not, there are lots of (very often fishy) players who wouldnīt play at Stars.

d) Stars has way less players that Party, which makes it less likely that there are lots of satellites.

Another possibility would be Paradise fo course. Iīd still prefere Party since it has more players and the competition isnīt as tough as at Paradise.

Of course there are lots of other online pokerrooms out there, but simply for the fact that they are too small I donīt think that they would be a good choice. (It might be a good promotion for those small sites though).

What do you think of this idea? Iīd like everybody who would be interested to play in these satellites to post an answer. Iīm positive that represetatives of most online sites quietly read these forums. Furtheremore, if there are lots of players interested, it would be easyer to argue with them.

Best regards

Sorry, I donīt know how to do it. What about a poll, simply asking who would be interested to play in these satellites and who no.

Iīd appreciate if somebody who knows how to set up such a poll would do it.

Thanks in advance

I don't play online but have no doubt that if satellites for WPT events were offered they would be immensely popular. I would recommend that you try to contact someone at WPT and make this suggestion.

Party is already doing this for their Party Poker Million WPT event. (Granted this is the only tourney they do it for) But they have satellites for $1, $25 and $200 depending on where you want to try to come in.
