I made a trip to Foxwoods last night with a pal of mine - no poker involved, but I used the opportunity to pick up an information sheet on the Act 1,2,3 satellites to the WPT event. Below is the relevant info.

Entry Fee:
Act 1: 23 + 7 (Final 2 of single table proceed to Act 2)
Act 2: 106 + 9 (or Act 1 win voucher, Winner only of single table proceeds to Act 3)
Act 3: 1020 + 40 (or Act 2 win voucher, 1 of every 10 entries wins 10,000 seat, with bubble person getting "odd" entries value in cash)

Note: All of the above are non-transferrable - you can't win Act 2 and have someone else play Act 3. If you win more than one Act 3 you can take the second in cash or tournament lammers.

Starting Chips:
Act 1 : 1,000
Act 2 : 2,000
Act 3 : 3,000

Structure for Act 1 and 2:

Level___ sb___ bb
1 _____ 25 ___ 25
2 _____ 25 ___ 50
3 _____ 50 __ 100
4 ____ 100 __ 200
5 ____ 200 __ 400
6 ____ 400 __ 800
7 ____ 600 _ 1200
8 ___ 1000 _ 2000
9 ___ 1500 _ 3000

Each Level will last 15 minutes.

I won't type out the Act 3 structure (it would be too messy - I should just hook up the old scanner), but it has 20 minute levels beginning at 25/50 and incorporates an ante at Level 5. It looks rather similiar to the Tuesday night NLHE as I recall (except for the starting level).

Act 1 & 2 run whenever 10 are available, and Act 3's run based on a schedule. You are assigned an act 3 to attend when you win Act 2. In the 2 hours I was there last night at least 2 Act 1's went off, not sure about Act 2's.

The information sheet also points out that Act 1 will last about 1.5 hrs and Act 2 will last about 2 hours.

Anybody have any trip reports on these?

I was at Foxwoods yesterday and made it through my first Act I. Act II was going well until I got reraised on a steal at the 100/200 level which left me about 1,000. I managed to build myself back up until this hand. We were 5 handed. Blinds were 200/400, and I had about 1800. I pick up A /forums/images/icons/club.gif Q /forums/images/icons/club.gif in the BB. UTG (short stack with about 1200) raises all-in. I think for a minute and figure he's attacking now rather than waiting for his blinds, so I call. He turns over Q /forums/images/icons/spade.gif T /forums/images/icons/heart.gif

I'm feeling pretty good even though 2 hearts fall on the flop. A heart on the turn and I say "uh-oh, no jack, no heart." Unfortunately, the deck mocks me by showing a river of J /forums/images/icons/heart.gif and I go out a couple of hands later.

The only caveat here is that, so far, they only have 1 table assigned to Act I & II, so there's a good deal of waiting around. You'd better be alert if you're in another game, because they call the list and don't way very long to assume you're not coming to the table. One guy who was playing in another game came to the Act II table maybe 5 minutes after they called the original list and they had already gone back to the board to fill his seat.

Good job getting through the Act 1 table - how did you find the competition to be?

I can't see myself not making the same call with AQs, especially if I think I need to win UTG's chips to have a shot at winning the table. One thing I am learning playing sit n gos lately is that the favorite hand going in loses so often - I find myself quite used to it, though I can't say I like when I am on the losing end.

Are you going to continue playing the Act 1's? I am going to have to give these a shot soon to see how I feel about them.

Hard to judge after just one day. I did see what I considered to be a lot of timid play at both tables. A lot of under betting at pots.

I think I'll continue the Act I's for a while, although if an Act II is short players when I get there, I'll buy straight into that.

I've entered one Act I so far and qualified but haven't been down again to enter an Act II. However, I don't think I'll enter any more Act I's assuming I bust out in a Act II or III since I don't think the Act I is that good a value. It's $30 to enter with $7 going to the Casino. If you win you get a voucher worth $115 for an Act II. It seems that the Casino is raking too much on this so if I fail, I'll probably just buy directly into an Act II.

I agree with you on the Act 1 rake. It is only worth it if you have a pretty good overlay over the field. Then again, if you don't have an overlay in Act 1, you are not going to fare much better in Act 2.

In addition to that I could be rather comfortable spending $30 a pop for a number of Act 1's (assuming I felt I could play well and make it into the top two reasonably often), but I think forking over $115 for a single Act 2 starts to mess with my comfort level - and would affect some of my decisions. That might seem ack-basswards, but I think I would react that way.
