***CROSS POSTED in MTT tournaments... no one wants to talk theory over there... just specific hands*****
FIRST - I'm NOT being results orienteed... I know I was a huge favorite in the following situations and I'm happy with my play... I'm more interested in the theories, pros, and cons of overbetting pots.
Deep into the money in a 2,500 person PP $10 tournament. Need to double up to make a legitimate run to the big money.
KQ under the gun.
Raise 4xs blinds ($500 - $1000)
Me - $19,000.00
Villian calls $4,000.00 $23,000 left... has been playing weird... has very liberal starting hand requirements.
Flop Q, 9, 3 two hearts.
I push all-in... A) I think he will call with anything B) I don't want to beat myself up when/if I see and scare card on the turn and I'm forced to call an all-in.
He calls with A J hits and Ace and won. Whatever... his luck... my miss-fortune
I'm happy with my play... but I don't know if I'm setting myself up for horrendous bad-beats by making weird over-beats.
It seems like overbeating is a great way to accumlate chips from weaker hands in these huge on-line tournaments...
But when it back-fires... it backfires hard and usually for every chip you have.
What is your guys opinion of overbets in poker: cash or tourny... no-limit obviously.
