View Full Version : What can I do?

11-10-2005, 01:22 AM
I played lots of $10 games on partypoker and I did really well and won money and now I am playing on the $20 games but I hope to move up the level fast. I have a plan to play the $200 games after the new year so I am wondering if other people have done this from the $10 games to the $200 games and some g00t advice would be nice.

Thank you.

I would go recommend posting a lot in Other Other Topics, learning about various topics can help you adapt better on the tables. Plus, they have a SUPERSWEET moderator...

Convinced of what? That he's bad at english? He hasn't done anything wrong besides give some mis-guided advice. If you don't believe him, just ignore him. No need to be an ass.

I think most of us here are on the fence between 1) you can't make this sh!t up and 2) obvious gimmick account. If it's the former, and I hope for the sake of posterity that it isn't, a little meanness may be the only thing that is going to help him see "the way." that or kindness, which most people here are lacking in /images/graemlins/tongue.gif regardless, you have impressed me with your treatment of this poor fellow.

Yeah, in all honesty, not being able to speak English well is believable - being as naive as this guy is not. He hasn't responded in anything but a "I don't get it" type of way to anytime someone takes a shot at him (which is often).

C'mon guys, unless he's 12 years old and foreign, it's too ridiculous to be real.

Yeah, thing is, I have been in many situations before where I have had to use a language besides english to communicate and its not easy, especially when it involves using a whole new set of jargon that is even foreign to those that speak that language as their first. Poker uses a whole new language within a language so I would feel for him if his account were real. Thing is, a lot of his posts have a certain quality to them that is very indicative of a gimmick account that seems to remind me of some of the best gimmicks in online forums I have seen over the years (not just poker related), so I am suspicious. But in any regard, I have been LMAO for the last couple of days...so I don't really care.

This is -EV. When someone has demonstrated a total lack of knowledge of SNGs and consistently made blantantly wrong statements, you should read each and every one of their posts and make sure that you disagree with everything they say. If you agree with something they say, that means you have some thinking to do.

It's +EV to my work time though - when I read the forum the most - as it means I don't have to wade through his posts of utter crap, and also it reduces the risk of being fired from laughing too hard.

from the FAQ, which you should read if you haven't already.

[ QUOTE ]
How big a bankroll do I need?

This is totally a preference thing. How willing or able are you to reload your bankroll if you bust it? How low of a risk of ruin do you like to have to feel comfortable? You should always have enough money in your bankroll that you are not playing with “scared money” at whatever stakes you are playing.

Many numbers are thrown around for how many buyins for a given level actually constitutes a bankroll. However, there are some factors that are clearly true, including that you need to have a larger in terms of buyins bankroll to play the higher stakes games. While many agree that to play the lower stakes games, 30-50 buyins is probably enough, many also say that to feel comfortable playing the highest limit games, they like to have 50-100 buyins in their bankroll. 100 being the most conservative number offered for high stakes play.

The recommended numbers for these things are constantly in flux. Some people want to know how large a bankroll you should need if you're never willing to move down in stakes, some want to know how large a roll is needed if you're willing to move down. Required bankroll is basically saying "How many buyins do I need to have a (really) low risk of ruin?" as I said in the first paragraph. Sadly ROR depends on a lot of things. People's bankroll requirements are going to be functions of their own ROI, number of tables played at once, succeptability to tilt, and other factors. Thus, the above is merely a framework to work with. If you find yourself needing more, for "real" or psychological reasons, make sure you have more. In general though, less than 30 buyins is considered unsafe in terms of ROR.

It is very important to remember that the more willing a player is to move down limits when they lose, practicing a form of bankroll management, the fewer buyins for the next highest level the player needs to take a shot at moving up.

[/ QUOTE ]

To be playing at the $200 games, assuming you can beat them (which you cannot in your current state), you would need a bankroll of at least $10,000, and to be safe, $20,000.

Conclusion: this is not going to be as easy as you think it is.

11-10-2005, 08:33 PM
But I play g00t so if I win money at every level then I think should play at higher level. There are lots of no g00t players at the level. This is my thinking. I get more of the confidence.

rather obvious just by his screen name that he speaks very good english, and was just trying to create some cutesy play on words for his screen name. people that struggle with english because it is the hardest language to learn not because of spelling but because of grammar. He slips into and out of proper grammar irregardless of his spelling. this is a joke account.

Someday soon I hope I will have the gramar 100% correct and I also hope I will be play the $200 game then as well but it is hard to do both at same time.
