View Full Version : If you could have any tool for free, what would it be?

I'm a professional software developer--I want to experiment with a new platform/framework so I need a pilot project.

What do you guys want that you're tired of paying for?

This will be a webapp--keep that in mind.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't have a great hand-replayer. There's one that works only in IE. There's the one in PTracker, if you have the hand imported already. None of these are great.

The thing is, you're gonna spend SO much time parsing, if you want to do a really good one. It sure doesn't sound fun to ME. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

i sent pat a pm about what his thoughts were on if a draw tracker was possible and if he had thought about it.
his reply was that it was def possible, but he had little intention of doing it in the near future. and that stud might be done next, depending on how he felt.

edit: i'm an [censored], how did i forget to say what i wanted. a draw tracker. i've been working on getting something that pulls stats from UB tripple draw hand histories. it's not done, there's a bunch of bugs that i still don't know the cause of. and the end product isn't gonna be something as nice as pt, but it will work for me.

Some sort of competition for PartyMine. Just about anything would be better than the current product.

This doesn't entirely fit the bill because as far as I know it doesn't exist, but something that could analyse your past hands in a "sklansky bucks" sort of way would be interesting. It would show at what point you were calling with/without the right odds--basically if you really are getting your money in with the best of it.

[/ QUOTE ]I can't really imagine this will be a useful tool. It sounds like it would only be used for results-oriented, whiny analysis. I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't need a tool that says "If you somehow knew Villian had KdJc, you should have raised on the flop but folded on the turn."

I'd like to see a tool to aid people in posting Live/Small Site hands to the forums.

Something where you can input your hole cards, the board, and the action that ensued. Then have the program output this in a forum friendly format, and count the pot and # of players and name players by positions, etc, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions--great ideas.

If anyone thinks of additional ideas, feel free to tack them on.

definately, an alternative to partymine would be amazing and wildly popular!

i can't frickin beleive that you have to pay more for partymine that PAHUD! now that is ridiculous.

since starpsy is dead, a working datamine program for pokerstars would be nifty as well.

do both and you would be legend not to mention garner a large user base given party and pokerstars are the two biggest sites.

cheers,

A hand replayer would be great. A recent trend is to post .AVI movies of a short poker session on these forums to get feedback. Since the files get rather large and it isn't simple to accomplish, I think that a session replay tool would be groovy. It would work similar to pokergrader where you upload a group of hands. It then would give you a link to your session to replay. That way you could just post the link instead of having to create the movie file and host it and all the other headache that goes along with that.

What do you think?

I'm a lazy bastard. I like playing $11 SnG's on party where I am "sitting" on the corners so all my hands appear in the center of my screen.

I want something that will sign me up for 4 (8/12?) SnG's at a specified level and make sure that I get those seats (range of seats would be optimal). The software would arrange the windows for me. I would never need to look at the lobby. My perfect "auto sitter" would then go into the background and pop up a dialog when I finish the last of the four with a button for "DO IT AGAIN, MANG!", as I like to finish four, take a break, rinse, repeat.

I imagine that this functionality could be built into a mining type program. If it was smart enough to "save" four tables for me to play on and datamine the other six available at party... now that would be lazy nirvana!

For people that play the higher stake SnG's, it would be great to build in buddy/enemy lists with configurable rules... "I will only play with player SupaLAG if I can sit one or two to his left" "I will play with FishyMcFisherson any time, any seat" "I will never play with GigaBet" etc.

edit: oh, a webapp. oh well. .NET would be great for this idea of mine though /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

A program that took the chat box information about the hand and created a pseudo-party hand history for it and was importable to pokertracker. This would be good for small sites that dont offer HH.

What would be nice is some kind of automated notetaking facility that had the same format for notemaking across all sites. Something with checkboxes and space for wirrten notes that popped up when you clicked on a players stats in PAHUD for example.

Program where you can write hand histories and comments from books and replay them on screen. Something like Pokertutor (from ITTH) with your own hand histories and comments.

How about a tool that in real time builds a starting hand chart of each opponent.

I.e. It would show me what he limps in with, raises with, etc. by position.

I think this is a very good idea. Making it so someone could click a link in your post and replaying the hand/comments inside of a browser. Then we could visualize the poker instead of reading hand histories.

This could be interesting, and nice to have when reading hand posts. I think just about everyone here would love you for a nice web-based hand replayer that could be easily linked in a hand post. Even so, I'd still prefer a PartyMine alternative. Especially if it could work across multiple WinXP users simultaneously and also mine different limits simultaneously.

This looks useful to me and seems to be the exact opposite of results oriented thinking - maybe you read it wrong? It would come back and say "On hand xyz you called with a gutshot straight on the flop with only 5:1 odds"

Not sure if it would get a lot of use as some of the other suggestions though since calculating pot odds in your head as you are playing is fairly easy.

Anyways, just wanted to defend the original idea because I don't think it was a bad one and was probably misread.

I'd like a tool that identifies the actions of a person so far (or they could be manually entered). Limp re-raise pre-flop, 4 people to the flop, check the flop, e.g. The program then digs through the DB and pulls up the last 5 hands and boards on which the person did this.

How about a card tracker for stud?

Or a HUD that reads the Hand History real time, and displays opponents cards at showdown without having to look at the HH.

Hand Replayer with stats overlay.

Also, it would be nice if it sorts stats for 3-6 players vs. 7-10 players like PA Hud does.
