Afrodisiac Soundsystem

-They are 2 DJ's from L.A. (Haul and Mason) who remix African music and combine it with modern genre's like Hip-Hop, Electro, and Funk. IMO, they are amazing. Youll have to buy vinyl though, as they havent yet released a full-length LP.

He's very good but I would at least hope that many here have heard of him.
EDIT: I've never been in a conversation about Kimock where someone didn't interject that "he was Jerry's favorite guitarist".

I'll say

"Gangbang Bubblicious Ho's Art", because I've never heard of him/her.

Although I have no idea how good he/she really is.

So if he/she is the best musician I've never heard of (per your title), how can I recommend them? I don't even know them.

Not only was this joke stated horribly, it was already done 3000 times better than J.A. Sucker.

Bill Laswell

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
Jump to: navigation, search
Bill Laswell (born December 2, 1950 in Detroit) is a prolific bassist, producer, and record label owner who has collaborated with hundreds of musicians all over the world. He is married to the Ethiopian singer Gigi. Bands he has led include Material and Praxis. He was a member of the hardcore punk flavoured free jazz supergroup Last Exit, a direction he continues working in with Massacre.

Laswell's first recording appearance was in 1978, playing bass for Michael Blaise and Cheater on a track titled "Scoring Power". His artistic breakthrough came in producing "Rockit" for Herbie Hancock's Future Shock album, a track cited by many as influencing the explosion of hip-hop and turntablism (via Grand Mixer D.ST).

Laswell has remixed the works of Bob Marley, Miles Davis, and Carlos Santana. Laswell continues to hybridize music styles of disparate world cultures. Tabla Beat Science is one such fusion, joining classical Indian instrumentation with modern electronic production.

Laswell draws upon many musical genres, most notably funk, dub and ambient, but also hardcore and jazz.

Bill Mallonee - www.billmallonee.net (http://www.billmallonee.net) -

former frontman for the Vigilantes of Love - had a couple major albums on Capricorn in the 90's - been struggling ever since - deal after record deal has been a shaft up the ass - and former Athens, GA connections (Peter Buck produced his 3rd album) are dried up and the audience is sorta gone away.

I still went to see him in Des Moines though - had to make the run.
