View Full Version : ($60) Some hands from my first $55+5 turbo.

11-09-2005, 01:53 PM
So I decided to play a $60 turbo on Stars today. This was a bit naughty, as I don't really have the bankroll for it. However, it was just a one-off and I figure splurging a little bit couldn't hurt.

Anyway, I tried to eliminate all distractions for this one. Was 1-tabling and watching every hand trying to gather information on players. Anyway, as I was really trying to play my A-game I figure it's a good way to spot leaks. So I'll post a few hands.

I realise some of these hands aren't spectacular, and in many cases probably standard and boring. However I find myself misplaying fairly basic hands a lot I think, so just bear with me.

Played OK? That river was a damn scary one /images/graemlins/frown.gif I figured top set was good enough to slowplay but I could so easily have gotten burned here.

#2:

Still quite early, this villian has not done anything of particular note as yet.

Well this mini-raise scared the crap out of me. I half-expected to see AA but couldn't really bring myself to fold my QQ against one opponent.

#3:

Villian in this was a bit ordinary. Nothing too out of line but was very loose early on and hasn't played well IMHO.

I think this one was OK, but I was actually a little lost during this hand. I guess it's standard..

#4:

OK, we're heads up, yay. We haven't been playing HU for long, and the only hand of note I came over the top of his button raise with 66. Villian is quite tight, and came back from being a very short stack with good hands at the right times and a healthy dose of luck.

Bleh. I hate this hand in retrospect, but it seemed to make sense at the time.

I'll post results later, but i'd really appreciate some comments on this, even if they're "super standard" or something.

Hand 1 is pretty bad. Build a pot.

What are your opponents' names? "Rekrul" is dead money.

quality of play isn't that great is it? ;o) hand 1 you have to bet. a check here to me says you have KKK or QQ and plan to check fold. you have to at least make a CB to disguise the strength of your hand. the others look fine, except maybe that last one, which is a semibluff so can't fault you too much for being aggressive.

I'm playing, so if you PM me, I'll comment more fully.

1st hand, when the second 2-flush hit - you bet like you have hand, so you don't wind up having a river situation like you had to make. When you have a bet, charge the draws to play.

#2 Meh. You played fine, based on the info.

#3 You are heads up at the flop, bet the pot. Your bet looks like aq button on a steal play. If I was the blind, I would have raised you not called. Now - what would you have done then?

#4 Heads up, check the flop & slow play it, see what he does. You overplayed it, IMO.
