View Full Version : Shrimp Soup
I just ordered his with my sushi. I got a bowl of leaves and watery tasting broth. Basically it sucks. Don't order shrimp soup if you want anything resembling soup with or tasting like shrimp.

Same with lobster soup, I made that mistake. Except there were eggs in it. Very nasty.

There's many lobster soups that are amazing. Let's be more specific here.
For shrimp soup I think you went with the wrong cuisine. Try a good thai joint and get Tom Yum w/ Shrimp. No watery tasting broth if lemongrass and kaffir lime is involved. This picture is pretty good but I can't vouch for the recipe.

Im not to sure, I rarely eat chinese food, but what should I order that is good? The takeout menu just said lobster soup....sounded interesting, then I got it. It was grey water, with some type of vegetables, lobster, and boiled eggs.

Perhaps your shrimp soup was simply heated up shrimp water. I'd suggest finding a new restaurant!

Are you including bisque? If so, your statement is obviously true, but is something listed on the menu as "lobster soup" really ever good?

I'm specifically including bisque.
I would never order anything anywhere called "xxx soup". Just sounds iffy.

Elaine: Yeah. I met this lawyer, we went out to dinner, I had the lobster bisque, we went back to my place, yada yada yada, I never heard from him again.
Jerry: But you yada yada'd over the best part.
Elaine: No, I mentioned the bisque.

I'm glad that somebody was there to play Karl Malone to my obvious John Stockton.

Anything ending in soup is "iffy"? That seems absurd. Miso soup? Cream of brocolli soup? Tomato soup? These aren't legitimate food items to you?

If it was the same, consider getting a tongue replacement.
I ate about two sponnfulls of it and made a horrible face that the waiter happened to catch. He came over and said it didn't look like I was enjoying it and offered to replace it, so I got a bowl of New England clam chowder that was very good.

But it's Chicken Noodle and Beef Barley, that's an important modifier.

Most of the seafood I had when I visited Hilton Head was dissapointing. I did catch some crabs myself and make an awesome Pasta sauce with them.

Above looks real good but if you are an LA poker player try this dish at Hawaiian Gardens Casino. Two weeks ago I scored thirteen decent sized shrimp. Sort of filled me up since I also had a Thai chicken dish /images/graemlins/grin.gif
