My girlfriend is going to Mexico on a cruise for a week with her family. I'd like to get her a little something before she leaves, but I've never been on a cruise and I don't have the first idea what a good gift would be. Since I'm not going to get my girlfriend a bottle of Dramamine (which is what I would need), does anyone have any good ideas?

Girls swimsuits are usually pretty expensive so they dont have as many as they would like to have. You could take her shopping for one, because i wouldnt risk getting the wrong size. Maybe she can run a little fashion show for you.

Thats a great idea. Make sure she looks really hot in this swimsuit so that a bunch of other guys are trying to get on her the whole trip.

If you know the cruise line she's going to be on, you can pre-order a bottle of wine or a cheese tray or something and have it sent to her cabin when she is on the ship.

how's her luggage?
I know, kinda lame, but crappy luggage pisses me off.
Alternately, you could get her a day trip bag or something.
I dunno man, going on a cruise is reward enough for most. Kind of a weird request, hence my weird answer.

Yeah, I don't want it to be something big. Just a small little token -- like, I dunno, if I were going on a long airplane trip and someone got me new headphones for my iPod, or comfortable slippers to wear on the plane. You know... or if I were going to Oregon in March and someone got me an umbrella. Whatever, I'm the worst at getting gifts/things for people. The point is just to present something to say: "here, enjoy this during the cruise." What do you do on a cruise besides eat, lay on the deck and read books, drink in the lounge, and vomit over the side of the boat?

A nice windbreaker. There should be a breeze at night on deck.

See, now I get what you are asking.
You should get her a good carry bag. Aside from what you mentioned a big part of being on a cruise is leaving the ship and enjoying the islands. She will need a bag to carry all her stuff to and from the boat. This bag should be large enough to fit a towel, bottle of water, book, mp3 player, sunblock, camera. You should also get her a small water proof container for cash/cruise ID.

I would go with a bottle of good booze. The drinks at the bar can get really expensive after a while, and there's not much else to do while at sea other than drink. This would be especially good if she (or one of her family members) has a nice cabin with a deck. (they'll probably say that bringing alcohol on board isn't allowed, but they won't dig through her luggage)
