Do you have the 360 preordered and do you realize that when all is said and done after a few games and accessorries you are probably well over $500? I would think thats enough for awhile.

Here is a checklist of things I assume you have when you say you have everything, but if not look into them:
pimped out computer
complete home theatre
digital camera
digital camcorder
laptop if you have desktop [vise versa]
ipod video [in addition to other ipod]
dvd collection [there are some awesome box sets]
tivo/tv tuner
satellite radio
and a random non gadget one - really nice bedding such as a nice down comfortor and sweet sheets because a really comfortable bed is awesome

That's all I can think of for now.

1. A PSP for sure if you don't already have one. SNES emulators, movies (with a large memory card), mp3's, pictures (view only), pretty decent games (free if you know where to look)..
2. A WD Raptor hard drive if you don't already have one + a HDD cooler.
3. Nice cologne.
4. More socks. Can never get enough socks.

A few things that I find quite worth the money I spent for them in terms of usage:

1) A good home theatre system, either 5.1 or stereo depending on whether you watch DVDs and like the surround or you just want to crank your music nicely. And im not talking the [censored] you buy in best buy either, a decent system.
2) A nice massage chair (not the ijoy)
3) A high quality dartboard (there is no better game to play drunk then a nice game of darts)

one thing i've been wanting to buy for a while is an awesome pillow or two, cuz the ones i have suck. i don't know which one to buy though.

we're getting somewhere here, this is good.

as for all that other stuff you mentioned, i either have it or don't want it.

This isn't so much an item but a service:

Go to a high quality massage parlor and get yourself a 5-pack of hour long massages over the course of a month.

i should have mentioned that i don't want anything huge. i have a pretty small place and i will likely be moving somewhere far away within the next year, so stuff like big tvs and huge massage chairs aren't what i'm looking for.

Well, here's the thing, I don't know a ton about pillows or much else about bedding. I just know I like to lie in a comfortable bed. I know for pillows that two of the nicer options are down feather pillows or the foam memory ones. I don't have personal experience with either but I do like mushy pillows so nice down ones may be something to look into. Just as a starting point here are some pillows on overstock.com (http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2.cgi?PAGE=CATLIST&PRO_SUB_CAT=240&PRO_SSUB_CAT=1 914&cid=49018&fp=f) . Also, just based on hearsay, Egyption cotton sheets are supposedly really awesome. That's all I really got. Maybe talk to a girl who might know more about this sort of thing? Good luck.

Its a great dartboard and it isn't expensive at all. It helps if you live with other people you could play against, but even throwing darts alone can be very relaxing.

Eh... I meant chair and trackball. The chair is a famous chair that is top of the line but most likely overkill. A lot of people love it though. Even astroglide likes it and he's seems like a frugile man to me. The trackball is a must have IMO. You are young but your wrists can go to [censored] very quickly especially give your field. I can't even use a mouse anymore. Carpal Tunnel is not fun.

As far as APC's go, buy it at a B&M. Shipping lead acid batteries can get expensive. Then again if money isn't an option there is newegg.com. APC is a good name. Only hook up your computer, important monitors, and modem/router to the backup battery so your games aren't effected when playing.

Also:

You will see a power output (VA/Watt) The VA rating is important. Normally people have UPS's fitted to the power draw of your computer. So if you need more help you need to list the what all monitors and type of computer you have. Or you can just buy a big one and save the research.

get an archos gmini400

it has a 20gb hard drive and besides mp3s, it does divx, so u can watch any movie/tv show on it; there is also a free gamegear/sega master system emulator for it, so u can play any gamegear/master system game on it

it also has a compact flash slot so u can take the card out of ur camera and hit one button and boom it's stored on the gmini's hard drive so u can erase the card and keep shooting pics out in the field

u can also view jpgs on it, zoom in on them, etc

it's about $300, but much better than an ipod

in summary:
mp3 player
divx player
photo wallet
photo viewer
gamegear

Thread hi-jack -- My wife 86ed the idea (My daughter and I have already conspired to make it her 8th grade project). We are researching the best one to build.

My daughter selected studying the impact of exercise on heart rate. She will devise an easy activity that will elevate heart rate. The test subject's heart rate will take prior to the exercise and at timed intervals after the exercise. This will measure how long it takes for the heartbeat to return to normal. The results will be segregated by age/sex to see if there are any trends.

I will probably start a thread looking for volunteers within certian age ranges who want to help once she comes up with the methodology.

(Before the flaming starts, yes I suck at parenting)

The Spyderco Spyderfly (http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=1) is badass.

If you want something more practical, the Leatheman Wave (http://www.leatherman.com/products/tools/wave-(2004)/default.asp) is the best multitool.

If you want to have some fun, check out Cold Steel's Specialty Items. (http://www.coldsteel.com/specialtyitems.html) Even if you don't buy anything, you should order their free DVD.

This is what you need. Combo Ms. Pacman/Galaga machine (with the original Pacman game included). Its a cabaret version, so its smaller than a full size game and fits in a smaller space, yet just as addicting. About $2K on eBay brand new. I know you said you didnt want something big, but its fairly light and would be easy to move with a dolly or a couple of buddies.

It definitely rules, though I think I like my pinball machine better. I suck at Ms Pacman for some reason, even though I own the damn game. Stupid ghosts.

Good move. The company I used to work for bought one for every employee. Just make sure you get one with the adjustable lumber support.

[/ QUOTE ]

What kind of company buys every employee one of those chairs?

[/ QUOTE ]

My company. There are probably 400 of these chairs in our New York ofice. Every single employeee from the CEO to the temps have one. Our office is one of the smaller ones too.

Big companies love to waste money.

How's that trebuchet coming along?

[/ QUOTE ]

[/ QUOTE ]

Wait, you were planning to build a trebuchet?

One of my best friends from HS and his brother are working on a trebuchet that should pretty much demolish the world record for throwing whatever they throw in such contests. You should go ahead and build the treb anyway, they're sweet.

Yeah, but there's just something about having the 'real thing'. Also, I'm leery of any (Ms) Pac Man games that aren't the original of originals, because any time I play something other than the original, something seems off - either the speeds or the controls or the maze geometry... something. And the bottom line is I want Ms. Pac Man more than anything else.

Dammit, Astroglide! Now you've got me wanting to build my own mame cabinet (http://cmdrtaco.net/jubei/). I think it'd be badass to build myself one all huge like the X-Men/Simpsons 4-player games that could handle everything from Pac Man to X-Men/Simpsons/TMNT and Mortal Kombat/Street Fighter, NBA Jam, Viper, and everything in between. My wife and my p*ker both loathe you right now.

Good lord, I have a couple of spare mobo's and CPU's laying around. I could easily build one of these.

Well, one more project to add to the list....

I think you need (if you don't have already):
1) awesome speakers (e.g., http://www.klipsch.com/product/index.aspx)
2) awesome headpohes (I am into IEMs, see http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...t=all&vc=1) (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=4146390&page=0&fpart=all &vc=1))
3) a bigger monitor

other things to consider,
- the watch idea, but I have no clue re: watches
- designer tuxedo/suits/formal wear
- build your own portfolio (only because I am a finance guy)
