View Full Version : the normal bb/hr rate for 3/6

11-07-2005, 03:25 AM
This is my first time posting...I was wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of bb/hr rate I should expect at 3/6 hold em. I have been averaging 2.5 bb/hr, but could this be just a case of cards falling my way or is this realistic?
I have only played 6000 hands since I moved up to 3/6. Also, when is the ideal time to move up to 5/10? After a certain bankroll? What kinda rate should I have at 3/6 for it to be safe to move up?

I wouldn't move up to 5/10 until a 100 k hand stretch of at least 5.25 bb/100.

Thats a very high rate!! When I say, 2.5 bb, I mean big bets not big blinds. So I am averaging 15 dollars/hr. You are saying I should be averaging 30 dollars an hour?

Big bets yes, if you have a winrate of under 3.00b/b as of now you must either be getting some terrible cards or playing terrible poker...My advice..move down 2 limits /images/graemlins/crazy.gif

There are no rules written in stone for when you should move up, but what I can say is that 6k hands at 3-6 is an extremely small sample.

2.5 BB/100 is a very decent win rate, however, and if you can keep that up for, say, 20-30k hands more, you can begin to feel confident that you're a solid winner at 3-6.

But remember that the long run is really long. Even 100k hands is not nearly enough to determine your win rate precisely.

Yep just messin around on ur first post....

The winrate on this forum is discussed in terms of bb/100 hands, not bb/hr. If you havent done so already I would advise you to purchase poker tracker. As for moving up limits, if a game looks especially soft you can take stabs at it and there is no set limit of hands you need before taking a jump. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was hoping you were joking..I thought I was playing well!...In any case, I have bought poker tracker, and I hardly ever multitable...I guess thats why bb/100 hands is better...my current rate at 3/6 is 3.66 bb/100 hands.

That will be an extremely difficult rate to keep up, but touche...Anything over 2 is good

The normal winrate is probably something like -3BB/100.

that's pretty sweet, but like some other posters have mentioned...6000 hands is about 3-4 days for many of us. Definitely short-run. I prefer to have a bigger sample before moving up. However, if you have the bankroll, are comfortable, and feel up for it, scout the games and jump in.

BTW-the general hold'em and psychology forums have numerous threads on when and how to move up limits.

A win rate of 2.5BB/100 is a very good rate. NORMAL, as said above is about -2.50BB/100.

I suspect the average 2+2er is 1.5BB/100.

A persons goal is 2BB/100 and very very very good world class player is 3BB/100

With that said - why lock yourself into a certain limit. If you feel confident, make a strike north. I bounce arround from 1/2 to 5/10 depending how I feel and how many tables I'm playing.

To get a real picture how you are you do need 30,000 or more hands and even that will not really tell you. My win rate is different on different networks at the same limits even with 50,000 plus hands at each.

3.66 BB/100 is probably running VERY good.

I ran 3BB/100 for my first 50k hands at 2/4, after 200k now 1.5 BB/100, for what it's worth.
