I was expecting great opponents. Surprised at how many fishies there were. There were one or two good ones though.

I have noticed this too, although after 500 I am at 7% ROI so I am not exactly crushing the game. I think that when the average Party Donk decides to play, he will choose a $50 as opposed to a $30 because it just seems like a more round number. This is just a random theory but my god, there are some VERY fishy people playing these.

Personally, I find the $30s still more donkish, but I should start to evaluate the $50s at peak hours.

They're both donkish. The difference being at the $55s you can sometimes have a reasonable stack remaining when one does a particularly donk play on you, whereas on the $33s you're usually dead in the water or out.

it doesn't really get tougher till the 215's, the 109's are pretty easy too

Except Unarmed is there. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Nah, seriously, I've heard that too, but I'm still not going to take a stab at them just yet. But the $55s are insanely donkish at times, some idiot last night I managed to stack off after AKQ flop (two hearts), Th coming on turn when I had AJo, and he called with A3, no hearts. I bet, he raised, and after some deliberation I pushed. No idea what he thought he was ahead of. Then you get the muppets calling sb pushes with, erm, 65s. I really don't think some of them know what the hell they are doing..!

It's posts like this that make me look forward to the future. Any time I get frustrated grinding the 11's, I see a post like this, and it helps me refocus on why I'm doing the grinding.

I get confused when I see posts like this. I just took a shot at the $55s. Bombed big time. Down 1K in 60 games which is a good chunk of change for me. Don't get me wrong, I did see some terrible plays, and I know 60 games is next to nothing, but now I have no idea if I suck at the 1000 stack games or if it was normal variance.

I've had 1 downswing over 1k and one just below 1k after only 400 or so 55s. I just had my first set of 10 ever where I was OOTM on every one. I'm still around 17% ROI so far overall in 55s (iirc, and not that it means anything). Don't let it shake you. My advice would be to take another stab next weekend (or 60K+ online), when the donks come out to play.

Yes, I know it happens. The fustrating part is not know whether I suck at the 55s or not. It's very possible that I suck at these games.

I'm STILL curious... has anyone done the Profit comparison for the $33s and the $55s yet? I'm still about a 20% ROI $33 player over 2000 or so SNGs, and my forays into the $55s just seem to generate a lower ROI and much more variance. Anyone?

YOu can do a search, Irie and McPherzen (sp?) did a competition on it. I think the $55s won, but it wasn't like the sample was big enough to really be proof.

There's a lot of variance in all aspects of this game and it seems like I went through some stretches at each buyin I've played where it seemed overrun by either donks or rocks or pushbots.
