View Full Version : A question which you probably don't have the answer to :

I just mucked QQ by accident (misclick). It would have lost to 1010 that flopped a set.

If I had raised, would the flop have been the same? (This is online of couse).

From what I understand (not much) most random number generators are seeded by a clock, so the flop probably would have been different, assuming raising takes some measurably different time either for you, or for the computer to process than folding. Also, if you raise, the other players' actions (and the time it takes for them to make their decisions) are affected.

This is what I hear. I wonder if anyone knows if it is true.

Jeff W told me that Party Poker has a preshuffled deck for it's hands, so the flop would have been the same. Not sure if this is true or what other sites do.

Some physics guys I know would argue that even in a live game the flop could be different if you raised. *shrugs*

They'd be wrong and pretty stupid.

I'm pretty sure both stars and PP have a deck set up before each hand, so no.

And they'd be joking...

Not neccessarily. I have heard and read (not sure if this is commonly accepted scientific theory mind you) that their is a chance that every time we do anything their is a chance, a very infintesimally small chance, of anything happening. It is so very small that it almost never happens.

Stupid quantam physics : )

Yeah, even if quantum mechanics applied to events on the scale of a deck of cards, which it really doesn't, the deck has been observed while shuffling- the cards are where they are. It's just a joke.

Fine, this works, but only if we allow prisoners to escape by simply walking through the wall.

.0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000001 is possible. It just doesn't happen.

Quantum physics is why donks check their hole cards every street. Theres that 0.000000000000000001% chance that they've changed.

I think the deck is preshuffled. It has to be actually.

It depends on the site.

So that's what they're thinking...

You're missing a lot of zeros. I actually had to calculate it last semester for a 1 m thick wall (no idea how thick prison walls actually are). I don't remember the number, but it was ten raised to a negative number with three digits.

i used to study quantum phys but then it got too hard so i started to play poker. Now that you guys have married the two together i find poker to hard and am quiting to go play tiddly winks. Stop screwin with the games i love and start making posts about poker thks.
