Congratulations. I would definately play more aggressively than the way you played, but it worked out for you.

Not sure what you mean.

My image at the final table was trash after I was priced in for a call with 74o.

Once we got to heads-up and were even in chips it didnt take me long to figure out what my opponent was doing.

Unfortunately, I was card dead for 30 minutes or so and had to pick my spots. For almost never having a hand heads up I did pretty well to open a decent lead IMO.

Always love any insight that will help my game though.

Thanks again.

Sorry, I should have clarified. I only started watching when you were HU (well, actually I started watching after your HU opponent sucked out on TT). I don't think I saw you raise PF once (correct me if I'm wrong), and you played lots of small pots - that's fine, given your opposition. However, after you were ahead 300,000 to 100,000, I begin to apply a lot more pressure preflop - allowing him to see free flops and chip you away on the flop with min bets can't be correct. Use your stack leverage against him.

I did raise once, with 23o /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Otherwise, my opponent was betting when he hit, check folding to my minimum bet when he missed.

He would push into me on a lot of flops, however, and push sometimes preflop, so it was only a matter of time before I caught a hand.

I could have been more aggressive, but I thought my advantage in post-flop play was significant enough to not risk chips with less than mariginal holdings.

Anyone else that watched feel his play was unoptimal?
I don't know, and maybe I play too agressively, but here's the way I see it:

You were even at 200,000 a piece, at blinds 4000/8000. You outplay him in small pots. Terrific, you've got him where you want him. Now you're at 300,000 vs 100,000, blinds 5000/10000. The BB is 10% of his stack. By here (and usually a long time before this), I start to raise preflop with position with q high, k high hands to probably an amount like 25,000. I'm betting 20,000 to win 15,000, but what I'm also doing is putting my opponent to the test and seeing how much he likes his hand, because it's very likely given the stack sizes that if he just calls he's going to have to face a 75,000 bet on the flop from me. Now, if he pops me back all in, I can re-evaluate how much I like my hand. Seeing your opponent's play, I have doubts he would pop you back with trash hands like 95 or t3 or whatever. Remember, your hand is ahead 50% of the time HU.

In conclusion, I can't see with these blind sizes how significant of an advantage postflop play can be, even with your opponent's playing style. (Sorry for any grammatical mistakes, I'm not proofreading this as I'm pretty tired).

I actually agree with what you are saying, but I'm not sure that what you desrcibe actually happened.

However, I will replay all the hands tomorrow, and I know already there are a few worth posting.
