What do you use as a card protecter at your local B & M?

I was using a couple of chips from my stack until I got A Darth Vader coin from the Episode III DVD.

Its about the size of a dealer button when it is in its plastic cas. Heads is Darth Vader's head and tails is Anikan and Obi Wan duking it out with light sabers.

well I thinhk its pretty cool /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I bought a big silver shiny coin in Vegas with a royal SF on one side, and the 'vegas' sign on the other. Unusable though, overhead lights catch it, and it shines in my eyes /images/graemlins/frown.gif

I use a shiny little rock one of the Luxor dealers gave me now, sort of a crescent shape, and is anyone asks, gives me an excuse to talk about Vegas /images/graemlins/cool.gif

1996 Silver Eagle. It's been with other coins and "looks" old and tarnished. I say it was made in the last century when they ask how old it is.

1876 French 5 Franc coin found by a friend while out for a BBQ in Grenoble in 1973. Friend was great at finding coins but lousy at squirting lighter fluid on smoldering coals....lost his shirt and most of his hair when it flamed up.

A rock from Rock City park.. But the coolest one I ever saw was a 50 caliber slug that some guy took out of a moose he shot. The back end of the slug was engraved with the date he shot the moose (In really small letters).

I use a 50 cent poker chip that I brought back from my honeymoon...I'm not all that fond of it, honestly, but the wife thinks it's cute and keeps her off of my back about playing, so it works.

I have been using either a half dollar, a silver dollar or one of my spare chips.

However, last week, I got a couple of sample sets of the American Beauty Chips -- I think one of these will work fine.

I use a little black coin with some engraving on it. No idea what it is, has no significance but it is fun to play with. I got it from a dealer that I tip well after I hit a high hand jackpot.

A $5 slot coin from the Bellagio.

When people here ask me what its worth, I usually say "$270". Then they say: "it says $5 on it". I tell them: "$5 for the coin and $265 to go get it!".

I used to use a miniature laughing Buddha, but I don't recommend it. He always got rivered. That's what he was laughing about, apparently.

12-25-2005, 04:10 AM
I was using a 1964 Kennedy half dollar but it turned out to have bad mojo: flopped top two running into flopped bottom set, flopped second set losing to a flopped top two when it turned into 2nd boat on the river, A-rag two pair beat by a three outer Q. All of those ended my tourney.

I forgot it once on the way to the Trop (actually left it at friend's home game) so I used a California quarter from my car and went home with $1750 (on $70 buy in) after tipping the dealers. Had another player ask about it and if I was from CA (hah, Philly yo).

All in from BB (M=4) with Q4d and made the river flush on the way to a 4 way final table chop. Hit four Jacks all in later that night. Pulled my own 3 outer on the river all in with it at home game. All in three way with AKo, AKo, and my AKc and hit the flush on the turn. In fact, I have yet to take an actual bad beat with it yet. Using it again Wednesday.

Believe it or not, yes they do. They tend to stare at the "B" on the front of the coin, and never flip it over to check the denomination.

Isn't this why poker is soooo good these days? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

"A chip from my stack. Any other card protector is retarded."

I agree 100%. I play a lot of daily tournaments in AC. When I see a player sit down with some kind of statute or medallion I immediately put them in the "weak/soon to donate chips" category. I pay attention to confirm my first impression, but I haven't been wrong yet. Good players are concerned about everything else EXCEPT card protectors. Use a chip.
