I've just tried it out with one particular style of music, but its done really well on the tracks its brought up. You just enter an artist or song, and it creates a "station" that plays more stuff in the same vein. Matt, I tried just entering "Indie" but it didn't really work and all that stuff sounds like crap anyways. /images/graemlins/frown.gif Sorry.

FWIW, the original input I used was Robert Earl Keen. It later played a Pat Green song and said, "Based on what you've told us so far, we're playing this track because it features country roots, mild rythm syncopation, a subtle use of vocal harmony, major key tonality and mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation." Sounds fairly sophisticated.

They didn't have anything for the 2 Skinnee J's though.

Bump.

Since my music is getting stale, I've decided to use one of those Russian sites to buy more music. My tastes range all over the board, from heavy (big Pantera fan, Opeth is about the limit on heavy) to jam band (Widespread is great, Phish ok, Grateful Dead ok) to rap (love Luda) to Texas country (Robert Earl Keen/Pat Green, but no "mainstream" country).

I'll be using Pandora to preview stuff before I buy it, and I thinkk their library is pretty comprehensive. So suggest away. I haven't really heard much new music - Thursday is the newest band I've found that I like - so those suggestions are good, too.

Also, Pandora is badass in general, so this deserves a bump based on that alone.

Here's a SFW picture!

Man this seems excellent, I might subscribe to this... I just hope they have a wide enough selection.

Goddamn this is addicting. Awesome little program.

This is the greatest thing ever... now we should try to make a movie one.

Oh well. You have hence become tied with DieBitter as my favorite poster. Kudos.

Someone needs to suggest a good techno song to put in. I wanna listen to more techno, and this is the perfect way to learn how.

How bout multiple different types so I can get a good cross section? Im determined to find Techno that doesnt suck.

Quick question: I've listened to some Sufjan Stevens and am still undecided. If I was to buy one album, which should it be?

If you like trance-ish stuff Tiesto (artist) is always a good place to start, IMHO.

Others to try with a techo-ish feel (some more than others)...BT, Christopher Lawrence, Orbital, Morcheeba, Thievery Corporation, Massive attack, Fischerspooner, Armin Van Buuren...

Wow, this is awesome. I don't see any advertising, but there is supposed to be some. Will this play forever?

I'm getting a pretty low 'hit rate' on Pandora knowing who I'm talking about though, although I guess that's just because I haven't bought a CD in the last five or ten years. Lil Louis, Liquid Soul, N-trance, Kim English, Bohannon, The Bucketheads (apparently there is a 'Buckethead' that's completley different), First Choice, Loleatta Holloway... all whiffed.

Is there some way to enter a genre, or to work directly with the list of music characteristics they use internally?

Seems to have a defect. I put in G&R, and it gives some rap guy.
