I am starting to play other variants, including variants of low-hand poker, and I am trying to get the hand rankings sorted out.

Is this following a good (correct) summary:

Razz:
- Nut Low A2345
- Flushes & Straights don't count
- 2xxx7 beats Axxx8

Stud H/L:
- Nut Low A2345
- Flushes & Straights don't count
- 2xxx7 beats Axxx8

Omaha H/L:
- Nut Low A2345
- Flushes & Straights don't count
- Axxx8 beats 2xxx7

Triple Draw (A-5):
- Nut Low A2345
- Flushes & Straights don't count
- 2xxx7 beats Axxx8

Triple Draw (2-7):
- Nut Low 23457
- Flushes & Straights count
- 3xxx8 beats 2xxx9

Thanks in advance

I don't play razz, but I think you're correct.

No, the 7 high beats the 8 high.

Correct, I believe. I've only played this a couple times.

Triple Draw (2-7):
- Nut Low 23457

Correct.

Edit: I find it a lot easier to think of these hands when I put the high card first, since that's the first comparison you make. So, the wheel in O/8 is 5432A and in 2-7 it's 75432. That's personal preference, but pretty commonly done.

Good to see someone else like me who dabbles in the lowball variants! Life's too short to play hold 'em all the time....

SheridanCat's reply looks right, but to summarize:

There are really only two hand valuations. A-5 low for razz, stud, Omaha, and pretty much everything else, include A-5 triple draw; and 2-7 for 2-7 TD lowball. Only in the latter do straights and flushes matter.

Your confusion may be because in Omaha, the five-card hand is assembled differently, but the ranks are the same as in all other A-5 lowball games.

Real easy. In all low or split games except 2-7 lowball, think of an ace as a 1 and arrange the cards in descending order. The smallest number wins.

A2347 vs. 23456 becomes 74321 vs. 65432. The lower number wins.

In many home games that are played high-low declare, straights and flushes cannot be used as lows and 6432A is the nut low.

Right. I always look at it as the "lowest high card", but your way seems easier and more logical.
