I was trying to search for one of the outstanding posts about Standard deviation and variance...
(I /images/graemlins/heart.gif BruceZ)
Specifically how standard deviation is determined in relation to poker.
I know SD is sqrt(Var)
and to find variance (of a single play) we subtract the expected value from each possible outcome, square the differences, multiply the squares by their probabilities and sum.

How do we find the variance of all our play in terms of winrate i.e. BB/100?

Here (http://archiveserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=0&Number=344985&page=&vc=1) is a basic post about standard deviation. Here (http://twoplustwo.com/mmessay8.html) is an essay by Mason that shows you how to compute it when your sessions are of variable length. If you want, I can email you a spreadsheet which carries out the method in Mason's essay.
