View Full Version : Why JBB is a terrible person

Evan
11-04-2005, 01:58 AM
I got a text message a little while ago from JBB saying, "Call me stat." Jbb has a wide range of what consititutes such a message, he could be in jail or have found a new flavor potato chip.

Due to what I think is a Verizon problem it takes me a while to get a hold of him. I finally do and the story unfolds. Here's an abridged version:

-JBB goes out with some friends
-He drinks way too much
-His friends are leaving the bar to go to a club but JBB can't keep up because he has to go puke
-He runs around the corner and finds a nice alley with dumpsters, seems like the perfect solution
-He pukes and feels immediately better
-...until the ground starts to move

Our resident B&M mod, JBB, puked on a homeless person tonight. Like many of us would feel in that situation, he didn't know what to do, so he pretended he didn't see the guy and walked away. Not only did he walk away, but he called me to share his tales.

Anyone ever done anything similarly awful?

um, wow. That's rather gross. Of course I imagine I'd do the same in that situation.
I don't think he's a terrible person, just a little too drunk.

Thats funny and messed up at the same time, kind of like that whole movie called "Bum fights"

ahahaahaa! thats classic. Some kid in the dorm room down the hall beer bonged a fifth of bacardi o (yea, i know, sounds like a challenge for Crimson) 5 minutes later, threw up all over the kids bed. Instant humor.

well, if you're gonna puke on someone,it might as well be a homeless person..
they puke on themselves all day...
and [censored] themselves too

how direct of a hit did the vomit score? this is amusing, but still rather shitty at the same time. the homeless guy has a hard enough life already even without a striped shirt/Banana Republic chino-clad yuppie leaving the Golden Tee machine to go puke on him

I can't say i'd know what to do in this situation, but I probably would have tossed the guy a couple bucks to buy a 5th of Vladimir or something. you know, for his troubles.

It's NY, I'm sure there is a cheap hotel somewhere that runs an hourly rate. Atleast give him enough money for new clothes, laundromat, and baby wipes. I would say $40 minimum is required here.

look, if their is a gas station, bistro, hotel, any joint with a bathroom nearby walk the guy there and pay the attendant $20 to allow him to use the restroom to clean himself off.

If you can buy baby wipes fine do it. If not throw him some cash. He may only use it to buy food, he may only buy booze. You don't know what he's going to do so you can't use that to justify not giving him money in this specific situation.

Look, I'm working off of the basic principle "if you [censored] someones [censored] up, you owe them compensation". You do what you can without going way out of your way. I've never been to that casino so I have no idea what's around it, but I'm sure I could find some creative way to deal with the situation. Hell I may even walk into the casino and ask them if I could buy some baby wipes (or 500 hand wipes), a shirt, and a hamburger off of them. I'm sure if you told the attendant what you did she may be able to help you in some way if you gave her a little bit of loot.

It's not that hard, and you have a lot of options.

There aren't many gas stations in Manahattan and none in the neighborhood JBB was in. I doubt many bistros are open at midnight. The closes hotel that I know of is the W Union Square, I don't think they're letting this guy in there.

ok, fine. Walk into any place that is open at the union square. Tell them what you did and offer them money to help. They may not accept it. If they turn you down you can walk to the next open place if you feel so dedicated.

If they don't help, give the homeless guy some loot. Again I think $40 is fine in this situation unless he is completely soaked and it's freezing out.

You did what you could.

I don't think he should "expect" it, but i also don't think something like this should surprise him. this is completely beside the point, though.

the idea is that JBB did this (or anybody who this happened to, not trying to pick on JBB) and it was very much in his power financially to make amends and help the poor guy out a bit so his life does not have to be THAT much shittier the next day when he awakens to find himself covered in dried vomit.

Once my one drunk buddy passed out, and my other drunk buddy puked all over his head in the backseat of my car. When we got home, we watched the buddy that was puked on literally crawl across the parking lot to his room. We all had a good laugh over it the next day. And pretty much nobody went on and on about how terrible it was or whether my puking buddy was a terrible person.

ok, well I don't want to get into a big discussion over this, but there seems to be a glaring difference between the two incidents. your friend, although the victim of the unfortunate circumstance, has a warm house to retreat to with running water and a change of clothes. the guy in the alley already has been [censored] on by life enough.

again, my opinion.

So what's he real story? JBB ran into an alley to puke, and it turns out there was a homeless guy sleeping nearby? Some possibility of splashback? I assume it was real dark, and there were no streetlamps to illuminate the area. So how did we eventually find out there was a bum in the alley, did he make some sort of audible noise, or did he move and JBB saw him and then left or something. JBB, I'm counting on you to give the full story.

Yea it's kind of covered throughout the thread. We were outside the place. I felt shitty and could feel a good boot coming. I didn't run, but calmly walked around the block, found a secluded place with a pile of garbage bags creating a little alcove. AT this point I had to let it fly. After I did, I notice some movement out of the corner of my eye, I realized somebody was sleeping nearbye, I froze in terror, very startled. I didn't know what to do and was not thinking clearly at ALL, so I just pretended not to notice, and I walked away. Looking back, the only thing I'd do differently is apologize and walk away, verifying once again I didn't hit him.

11-04-2005, 12:25 PM
The best thing JBB could do was just walk away.....is giving the bum 10 bucks gonna get him a shower? no, i think the +ev play here was saying "my bad" and walking away before any more contact could occur.
