Do you bet this turn? I wasn't sure where I wanted this hand to go.

What is the plan on the river if a 5 or 4 comes on river and villain checks/bets?

9-A, check/bets?

3, checks/bets?

I like the turn bet. He could have peeled with a flush draw or have something like an Aw/ a pair or pair w/ straight draw. The turn was pretty harmless and by checking there are so many cards that suck and villian can put you in a crappy spot on the river.

Now that he calls, well, I would probably check behind nearly any card on the river. I would fold if he betted out a 3 or A -- any other cards probably call, I dunno, I would need a "feel" for it.

It really just looks like you're creating a big pot with a marginal hand - you state you have no reads, yet you seem pretty confident you have the best hand?

At no point was I confident, but if I have the best hand how else do I protect? Just check through turn and hope for the best on the river?

If I wanted to put money in on the turn I would probably call the flop.

And let A-high peel? Am I being too worried about that?

I am pretty eager to play a small pot with this hand. You put a lot of pressure on yourself when you raised the flop. If you bet the turn after raising the flop, you are building a very big pot with a sh-t hand. If you check behind on the turn, you may get the pot taken away from you by a good opponent on the river if an overcard or a spade falls.

Calling the flop leaves you with better options on the turn.

You're not getting a lot of equity on that bet, IMO. Any random A has 7-T outs against you, and there are serious reverse implied odds issues because you have no idea where you stand if an overcard comes on the turn.

Dude - You're talking about "protecting" 88 against an unknown - chill out, play a small pot.

Less the PF minraise, I play QQ like he does.

If you're making a move and want to blow him off a big hand, then your line looks pretty good - except it doesn't look like he's folding.

Just call the flop, bet the turn if checked to, reevaluate on the river.

I think so. Pot control is a bigger concern here than charging draws. Many of the draws (e.g. two spades higher than 8) are ahead of you in any event and may 3 bet if you raise.
