Hero openraises in the hijack with J8s. [Some of you may debate this play; hero thinks it is correct and standard.]
Now comes the interesting part. Cutoff 3-bets, SB caps, folded to hero, now what?

depends on tightness and postflop skill of both players. also is this full ring or SH?
you're getting 5-1 odds on your money to make the call, so, while i think it is very close, if you're up against AK and a middle pair like 10's your only a 4-1 dog PF. I dont think either decision is horrible, but i'm for calling here.
However, I dont know how standard opening in the HJ with J8s is......in fact, i think it's too loose.

I think you can call getting 5-1 if you're only go to go forward with a great flop: 2-pair, trips, straight draw. If you can get away from a J-high flop with action in front of you, I don't think you're losing much EV here.
But folding would be my choice of action.

you need to include people's ranges
this may be why your downswing's contagious
plus getting involved
without position resolved,
could explain your results so outrageous
