It should be alcohol...I want to know I will be getting something for my money

alcohol is fine and dandy, just not in a place that requires >21.

edit: requires you to be over 21 to be in there... not over 21 to drink, obviously.

Well, what I meant was, would you like to attend this event *primarily* to drink (and hang out, but not poker - like a Diablo or J.A. Sucker OOT trip report type of thing (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=0&Number=3589530&an=&page=0&v c=1)), or *primarily* to play poker... or *primarily* to drink while playing poker /images/graemlins/wink.gif

i haven't voted, but my preference is to have a drink and eat and socialize, with poker being tertiary or lower. poker discussion = fine, poker playing = fine, but not necessary.

That'll be my first weekend in my new house, so I'm not really sure if I'll be able to make it.

With that said, I would be happy if it were just drinking beers and watching football on a Sunday afternoon.

yeah, I voted for all three of the social options. There better be alcohol and if there is poker, thats cool, if not that is fine as well.

we could do something like espn zone, as that allows under 21 people, and has many a football game. i don't know where or what the one in nyc is like, but i'm sure we could get a room or big table or something, booking this far in advance, no? are there other places like that, any other ideas?

11-02-2005, 03:44 PM
People (like me) who are under 21 are gonna cause a problem with this.

I feel like there's nothing I'd rather do with a bunch of 2+2ers than play a ton of poker for little $$$$ ($50 NL?) and huge amounts of pride.

It's in Times Square, which is jam-packed on weekends. It's a pretty cool restaurant/bar, but you would need to get there very early to get a good area. I don't think you could reserve a room unless you have a ton of people.

I'll try to think of an alternative on par with ESPN Zone...

There is one in Times Square...its kinda expensive, but its really big (i.e. 3 or 4 floors...one floor is the arcade the other 2-3 are the bar/restaurant area).
Thats the only one I know of in the city

Its the only one...its awful IMO. Although the baseball card collage that makes a picture of Babe Ruth (I think) is something to behold.

Citanul can't do any of the ones previous to that and after that we start getting into december vacations... if we wait it would have to be like 2nd week of January...

Hm. This might be enough of a reason to move it to the next weekend... but I'm fairly certain that after the Dec. 9- Dec. 11 weekend we would be hosed until January.

Pretty funny that 'For some reason I really want to vote in this poll even though I can't come' has the most votes so far.

Yeah December 9-11 I assume is going to be bad for a lot of people, due to final exams. I've got a final on the 14th.

Definitely down for this any of the days. And by the way, there are places that aren't quite strict on the whole "gotta be 21 to drink" rule, so that would be an option as well for anyone interested.

If you try and find a date that everyone agrees to you'll never get together. So why not a December date and then another with a February date. Just let me know when and where to show up. Since I'm probably as old as most of the posters parents the booze doesn't matter so what ever is fun for everybody.

also, this weekend, sunday, 5pm, madison square park, OOT is having stupid contests. like, who can drink a glass of milk in an hour, chugging hot sauce, etc...
