9-handed. Villain is a bit too loose and calls down with marginal holdings but is not particularly passive. Anyway, villain is UTG and hero is in CO w/QQ. Villain limps, 2 limps, villain raises, sb calls, bb calls, all 3 limpers call.
Flop: Q /images/graemlins/diamond.gif 2 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 3 /images/graemlins/club.gif
Checked to hero who bets, folded to villain who is the only caller.
Turn: A /images/graemlins/heart.gif
Villain bets, hero raises, villain reraises, hero reraises, villain calls.
River: 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif
Villain bets, hero calls.
I'm pretty new to limit-what do you guys think?

"a bit too loose" and limping UTG w/ 54 are two totally different worlds.

if your read on villian is correct i raise the river and call a 3 bet.

Weird play by villain to call the turn and then bet the river. Maybe AQ? Slowplayed 33/22? I doubt it's AA or 54. I agree you should raise the river and call a 3-bet.

sorry to hijack, but how much of a mistake is it to go 4 bets if he re-raises?

I would need a read to think a 4bet wasn't profitable.

I'd have to be there to decide about 4betting you absolutely must raise the river. Most of the time I'd 4 bet it.

It's live and there is no cap HU. Unless you have a good read and/or villain is complete idiot/maniac, three bets on the river is about the max you can put in w/second set.

Raise the river. Two pair is a lot more likely a hand for the villain to be holding than a hand that beats you.

because as each raise is completed the probability that he is more than just a bit loose goes down to he's very loose and now has the nuts (or close enough to it, i dont remember the board)

Terrible. I raise on river. He's doing that with 22 or 33. You messed up the description, it was you who raised pre-flop not villain.
