I've just started here and based on many posts here I'm getting Poker Tracker. I have seen PT mentioned in alot of threads about building bankrolls, getting started in micro-limits etc. I have not found a general post on how to best use Poker Tracker and its various add-ons. So what do you all think - what is your advice for a PT newbie?

Just download and install it first... you only need to pay after loading 1000 hands into the program. meanwhile u can see how useful it is

Poker Ace is a must. I think you can download a sample version that works for only 1 table before you buy it.

More important than the how to use it is this advice:

Don't let it become a crutch. It can cripple your skills and adaptaion abilities. It is very useful, and I recommend it, but I think there's a tendency to rely to heavily on statistics. They are only a point of departue, not the end.

In this great post from lautzutao How do you review your PT sessions? (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=micro&Number=3679785&fpar t=&PHPSESSID=), you will find what I think is most helpful for new player with PT. I do this after every session and I cannot recommend it enough. As far as the stat stuff goes, I'll default to those with more knowledge than I.

I suggest that anyone new or unfamiliar to PokerTracker read this (http://www.bet-the-pot.com/index.php?module=pagemaster&PAGE_user_op=view_page &PAGE_id=31&MMN_position=26:26) excellent FAQ on the many useful features you have at your fingertips.

It's broken into 5 sections, and it's pretty long, but well worth the read.
