I have a cell phone and have no need for a land-line in my apartment. Is it possible to get DSL in the scenario, or will they make me get phone service as well?

Thanks

You need a land line.

Up to your service provider, but the scenario you describe is becoming more and more common, especially in the states.

What service providers are in your area? Go to their websites and see what kind of service they offer.

I have DSL in home with no phone service. Never a problem.

You'll probably have to get phone service since DSL requires a phone line running into your house, but you can get the cheapest service available with no long distance and no extras since you'll never use it. A basic line is surprisingly cheap but everyone thinks they can't live without caller ID, call waiting, call forwarding, voice mail, and an internal wiring service plan.

I have dsl without a phone line! I'm sure your provider will be happy to have you as a customer. I pay $5 more a month since I don't have a land line.

This will work, np. It's a different form of DSL.

May I recommend cable internet (way faster), or wireless technology. It all depends on where you live.

Land (dirt, grass, etc.) line. As in, he needs a physical phone line and not just a cell phone if he wants DSL.

Get cable if available. I only have a cell amd use Charter cable. Expensive @ $54.95 per month but superfast at 5MB and very reliable. Alternatively, one cell company has unlimited service for $40-$50 per month if you have a voice line. Can't remember whuch company but they advertise it a lot.
