T.W. of Stanford Leads the Open

Wouldn't have been a surprising headline. But it was a different T.W. What a magical round! 23 putts. An eagle with a 6-iron. A putt that fell in after hanging on the lip for a good 10 seconds. A great, great up and down from the bunker on his 18th hole. A day to remember.

And seeing the relationship between Tom and Bruce, and hearing Bruce talk about it, I take back what I said about Watson's ego here a few months back when I criticized him for revealing that he would be footing Bruce's medical bills.

Here's hoping it lasts another day or more.

I've always liked Watson a lot. I'll really be rooting for him the rest of the way.

Is three more days of magic for Bruce really too much to ask for? I've never believed in fate or karma or whatever, I hope we see a little this weekend though.
