Hi,

i am in need for a general rule concerning when and when not, to make a rebuy in a MTT.

As i see it the decision has to be based on the average stack-size, number of players, the total prize-pool and what position the rebuy will get you (how close to the money), when the rebuy question pops up.

Off course the "feel" at the table you are sitting at is important too, but difficult to put into a formula + might be tranferred).

Does anyone know about a formula as to when/and when not, to rebuy (and add-on); or tell me what you take into concideration, when making a rebuy (add-on).

I have tried the "search" function as i assumed the question has been covered before; but i can't seem to get it to work right.

I type: rebuy -re
3 months
And search in: Only subject, and
Multi table tounaments.

The 25 first posts are from today, without the word "Rebuy" in the subject ?? (or in the text for that matter).

The "-re" works.

Am i using the search function wrong ??

My formula for rebuys is pretty easy. Whenever you can rebuy, do it.

I see your point /images/graemlins/grin.gif

My problem is more about add-ons.

How big should your stack be compared to average stack at the end of the hour, for not making an ad-on ?

Really, really big. Always add on. I think your stack needs to be bigger than the average ITM stack for it not to be profitable. So thats almost never.

Really, right now i am playing a tourney, 1500 start stack.

I have 13000, and average is 5500, add-ons in 5 mins, 145 players left. Total stack pool 850.000. 20 players payed.

So average ITM is about 40000.

I am a massive chip-leader at my table - so whats the point ?

I would normally not consider making an add-on here- so thats is terribly wrong then ??

Just seems that 1500 compared to my 13000, is not worth the buy-in.

I have 6035, and average is 4472, add-ons in 15 mins, 159 players left.

I am in doubt whether to make an add-on - so thats is terribly wrong.

Trust me, it is.

And it's not even close.

when you double up with 7500, you will have 15,000 instead of 12,000, and when you double up with 15,000, you'll be at 30 instead of 24. it adds up and the extra 1500 chips do matter quite a bit.

but add ons are usually a little bit bigger than the rebuy/starting stack.

Just edited the post to bring it up to date, addons now, and i am not making it, do you still think i should have, after this update ?

1500 is more than 10% of your stack, i'd take it cuz if you don't then the people behind you gain 1500 chips in ground.. plus in internet tournies you need as many chips as you can to stay ahead of the blinds.
