would you huys recomend staying at Atlantis, if so which tower?
Or would you suggest staying elsewhere on paradise island?
Or would you suggest staying on Nassau?
Atlantis is most $$$ followed by paradise, followed by nassau.
This is for during the Pokerstars tourney
ANy paticular hotels one would reccomend and why?

I stayed there last January for the Pokerstars tournament. It is a very nice resort but crazy expensive. I don't think I would stay there again based only on the price.

I've never been there...but the hotel is going to require ID to check-in so they will be carding you just for that.

Whether or not they actually check your birthdate also, who knows?

You could call and ask if you wanted.

Stay at Atlantis if you can afford it, b/c it kicks ass, and you'll be there a lot anyways. As for tower, stay at the cheapest. Beach Tower, IIRC.

Wife and I stayed there a few years ago and it was awesome. Good deals can be had if you shop around. We paid $400 for four days/three nights. Food is expensive on site but there are other options within a 10 minute walk. We travel a lot and it's probably the best vacation we ever had.

Stayed there thrice - awesome resort. The buffet's rock.

When you check in, slip the lady taking your information @ the computer a $50 and ask her if there are anything availiabe in one of the other towers (closer to the casino / whatever you want). It's a gamble, but I'm 2 for 2 with it.

Does anyone know if the $1,000 meal plan that Stars provides is more than adequate for 2 people? Or do you actually spend more than a $1,000 on food during the week?

$1000 for food? Even at their prices you'd be living large unless you plan to eat at the most expensive restaurants for every meal and drink like a fish. I think they have something like 50 restaurants on site.

I don't know about that, but the normal Atlantis meal plan is $79/day and doesn't include lunch or drinks. That one includes way more than enough for for breakfast and dinner. I eat a lot normally, but found it tough to eat all the food that entitled us to when I stayed there. For $1,000 I'm guessing your plan might also include lunch, but you should ask.

it's a very nice place but the servers and employees tend to be very very slow. they get an automatic gratuity on everything so i guess they just don't care that they're lazy.

Food is very expensive at Atlantis. I would say comparable to very nice restaurants in New York. If you can afford to stay at Atlantis that will be the place to be during the tournament and it is very nice resort (although overpriced). If you are a high roller I would stay at the Ocean Club. ULTRA NICE and within walking distance to Atlantis along the beach and you get to use Atlantis pools etc. This is where Oprah, Michael Jordan etc. stay in the Bahamas. I haven't stayed there but hope to someday. They have a great restaurant (Dune) and the appetizer sampler is the best app I've ever had (and I eat well).

If you want something no frills and cheaper in Nassau the Hilton was pretty nice and reasonable when I stayed there 5 years ago but it will be a pain to get over to the Resort and not much to do at the hotel itself.

Enjoy the trip - I need to get to work on winning an entry...

One other thing. The Royal Tower is MUCH nicer than the Beach Tower. I would compare rooms in the beach tower to Ramada or Holiday Inn (yuck) and the Royal Tower to a Marriot or Hilton (not the bomb but nice). It all depends on what you are used to and what your looking for. Beach Tower is where the tournament was last year but casino is closer to the Royal tower.
