Hi guys, i am a lonnnng time lurker, first time poster, I have a question about the best play here is..

Heres the situation, 5 players left.. been this way for sometime, read on villan is that he is a pretty straight foward player, usually raises 3.5x blind when raising.

I am in the big blind, he is on the button.. heres the situation.

FullTiltPoker Game #269092540: $50 + $5 Sit & Go (1733820), Table 1 - 100/200 - No Limit Hold'em - 19:54:03 ET - 2005/10/28
Seat 1: rjkcr (3,045)
Seat 3: 32unsuited (1,345)
Seat 4: smogdwg (1,600)
Seat 6: 1Cowboys (2,020)
Seat 8: Astoria Warrior (5,490)
smogdwg posts the small blind of 100
1Cowboys posts the big blind of 200
The button is in seat #3
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to 1Cowboys [Qh 3h]
Astoria Warrior folds
rjkcr folds
32unsuited raises to 400
smogdwg folds
1Cowboys calls 200
*** FLOP *** [2h 6d 5h]

he is at 945 chips now and im at 1620. his raise of 2x the bb worried me as he almost seemed to be urging a re-raise or call with a monster.. i called the raise and the flop was exactly what i had hoped.. flush draw with a gutshot.

What's the best play here?

I will post what i did and results after i get some advice.
Thanks!!

i lead out at 400 and call a push... you can't really ask for a better flop (aside from QQ3)

Welcome to the boards.

If you honestly thought he was on a monster, Q3s isn't exactly the type of hand that is loaded with implied odds.

But if this is the flop you wanted, then I check-raise all-in as long as his bet leaves him some room to fold.

The preflop call here is suicide, but anyway... The pot's 900 and he has barely any more than that left. If you check, he'll be potstuck after just about any bet. I'd lead out allin. If he has a monster it's not going to matter what you do anyway.

Didn't take note of his stack. I like Chris's line better than mine.

hey guys, thanks for the comments.

when the flop hit i was pretty happy to be in the situation i was in, i decided to be aggresive and push all in.

he insta-called and here are the results..

1Cowboys bets 1,620, and is all in
32unsuited calls 945, and is all in
1Cowboys shows [Qh 3h]
32unsuited shows [As Ac]
Uncalled bet of 675 returned to 1Cowboys
*** TURN *** [2h 6d 5h] [Ts]
*** RIVER *** [2h 6d 5h Ts] [7c]
1Cowboys shows Queen Ten high
32unsuited shows a pair of Aces
32unsuited wins the pot (2,790) with a pair of Aces
The blinds are now 120/240
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot 2,790 | Rake 0
Board: [2h 6d 5h Ts 7c]
Seat 1: rjkcr didn't bet (folded)
Seat 3: 32unsuited (button) showed [As Ac] and won (2,790) with a pair of Aces
Seat 4: smogdwg (small blind) folded before the Flop
Seat 6: 1Cowboys (big blind) showed [Qh 3h] and lost with Queen Ten high
Seat 8: Astoria Warrior didn't bet (folded)

i didnt get the result i was hoping for, but in that situation, with the money 1 guy away, is it a good idea to be pushing on a flush and guthsot? i know i shouldnt have called to begin with, but given the circumstances i think i would play it the same way in the future.

thoughts?

Go with your reads. And consider that he's only got <5 bbs behind after the raise. Your implied odds with Q3s suck here, and even if you do "hit", you're a pretty solid dog and he's not deep enough to push off of any kind of hand.

I should clarify. When I say "go with your reads," I mean fold garbage like Q3s when you think he has a monster.

Why would you call PF? That's just awful.

Since you called and hit your miracle flop (i.e. still drawing) push while you still have equity.
