I'm attempting to use PokerTracker to track my play. In general, how many hands should I consider a solid sample before I really start looking for trends and holes in my game?

It only takes one hand to start analyzing, Id venture a guess of about 6-10,000 hands to get a solid picture which would eliminate some of the short term luck such as losing with aces 12 times in a row
