I got this link from the guys in "poker theory".
I'm looking for nice chips. $2/piece is a bit too much. Does anyone know where I can buy heavy clay chips (heavier then 11.5gram) for $1 a piece. Or a little more then $1. $2 is way too expsensive.

thx

Thanks Mike, but those are not real clay chips.
I have bought a set at http://www.gamble.co.uk/ They're really nice, but they don't have what I'm looking for. I guess I'll have to make a trip to vegas /forums/images/icons/smile.gif:)

You might wanna try ebay for used ones. $2 is pricey...especially for people with average salary of 16K.

I don't want used one.
And yes, a new set is one month of salary for some of us.

I'm no expert but i do not think real clay chips weigh more than 11.5 grams....i think they are in the region of 9-9.5 Since the two major chip companies have recently merged it has become harder to get good quality chips. Try the webpage you were orignally on but use this url http://www.nevadajacks.net/mall/NJ.htm At that $1 a piece these look awfully nice. They even let you order a sample set. If you decide to go with these let me know hoe they are.

There are many casinos in Atlantic city and Las Vegas where you can get real clay $1 chips for........... you guessed it $1. In AC they are all white, but I heard in Vegas You can get many different color $1 chips from different casinos and build a set that way (go to the poker room, buy 3 racks and keep the cleanest ones). Buy 200 white, 100 red 100 blue....etc. BTW all these casino chips are casino quality /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif

I'm sorry mike, but all of those links SUCK. If you want good prices on 11.5g chips you can check out ebay. You can get 500 11.5g clay chips in an aluminum case for around $120-130. Shipping may be your biggest problem. As far as chips that are more than 11.5g, I've never seen them. Here's an example (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3227642353&category=89 9) of what I have. They also have something similar with the 4 suits around the edges. They weigh the same as casino chips, but the texture is a little different. There is also a texture difference between the dice chips and the suit chips. The dice chips are smoother and feel more like true casino chip to me. And if you want a TRUE casino feel to your chips, just walk around with them up your ass for a few days. That's the only way you're going to replicate hundreds of random players going to the bathroom and not washing their hands before returning to the poker table. Enjoy!

this looks like an awesome set, and i am sure it is fine to buy from this vendor.

however, there is enough negatives in this sellers feedback that i would reccomend checking out the feedback comments here (http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=www.5stardeal.co m) .

the 16,000+ score makes it inevitable that there will be some negative feedbacks, but take a look just to be safe, and to make sure that you know as much as possible about the seller.

this particular set looks like a STEAL if it goes for under $100. the current bid is only $66, and the auction ends soon.

happy bidding

TRUST me, it'll be at $120 before it's over. Those damn ebay lurkers wait until the last 5 minutes and the price shoots up like Granny's blood pressure when Matlock gets interrupted by severe weather bulletins. I didn't even look at the vendor when putting this link up, I just typed in 500 clay chips and this was one of the listings. I bought my set from this 5stardeal guy and there were no problems.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I think I'm gonna order those nevada things.
They'll be a little lighter then the one I use. But they look really nice.
I have one problem

These guys let me choose the color and mold. I have more possibilites. But they only weigh 7 gram. That's no enough.

I'll let you guys know which one I bought.

Very nice. However, if they are less that 11.5 grams, then you will not be satisfied. Anything less isn't worth the money.

Try a search for 'clay poker chips' on ebay.

I bought solid clay chips for $0.105 a chip (yes, ten and a half cents a piece). Striped chips were a little more than a quarter a chip. The place is called "Mr. Lucky Games Inc." out of Pompano Beach, FL. Unfortunately, he does not have a website, only a mail order pricelist. Here's his number if you want to inquire about his chips:
1-800-Lucky-55

BTW, he has the best prices on playing cards - anywhere between 10 and 20 bucks a dozen for new, uncancelled, cut (rounded) corners.

Thanks for the link Larry. But I missed it. I was already sleeping...
They look pretty good. I think some friends from Holland have those. Metal in the middle. They're very heavy.
If you win a big pot you need strong arms to get all the chips LOL

"These guys let me choose the color and mold. I have more possibilites. But they only weigh 7 gram. That's no enough."

Hung - check out their clay chips FAQ : http://www.pokerchips.com/faq.html: "What do Clay Chips weigh?
Professional casino clay chips weigh between 8.5 to 10 grams. Some chip makers use lead powder to increase chip weight. Our clay chips are 100% lead free and weigh 8.5 to 9 grams. "
I am pretty sure that these are the same basic chips as the American Eagle ones you're thinking of buying, but you can customise them to your own specs - and the customised ones cost the same as the Eagle ones (at least they do on that site). I would go for them, a set of customised chips would be sweet, they look fantastic and I think 9g is heavy enough. I looked into it and with shipping, 500 would cost about $550, I think. Remember, the Euro's strong at the moment!

You're a salesman, right?
You've convinced me. The euro is strong now, so that's why I want to buy them now. $500-$600 is a good price. I'm going to send my oder this week-end. Once I have them I'll let you know if they're any good. 9gram should be enough.
Thanks for your advice.

Lol, no, but I really want a set. Don't blame me if it goes wrong! I double checked and the custom ones are the same price as the eagle ones, except if you want a colour logo in the centre it's a flat rate of $50 extra ($.10 per chip). No extra charge for black and white centre designs.
You know my parents live just outside Brussels so if you like them you have to invite me for a home game next time I'm over. In fact we can play for the chips. /forums/images/icons/tongue.gif
