Has anyone sat back and looked at how much about how there play has changed in a year?

Well it was pretty close to a year ago

I had just bought my first computer and ventured into the world of online poker....

Party Poker of course was the 1st place I played and bled like a stuck pig all over the site

I played huge tourneys and multitables a ton, NL all the way

I had no concept of hand values other than PP and face cards were good.

I only sat at full games and was scared to play shorthanded

Regularly threw money away, couldnt wait for pay day so I could deposit more

In a year this has all changed

Many thousands of hands and painful lessons later

I now have accounts at 7 sites, no longer depend on a pay check for poker money

I primarily play limit poker, I love shorthanded play, rarely play a multitable tourney and have adequate bankroll
and play as high as 30 60

Not to mention poker has financed and turned a profit on a trip to vegas and atl city

This is a large amount of ground to cover in a year....

Im sure others have had better results, just wanted to share mine

Anyone else made a dramatic change in there game over the last year?

A year ago I only had a Mac, thus played only at pokerroom.com -- I'd deposited 500 dollars, win for a while, then eventually lose it away for a while...in actuality I was maybe a break-even player online (I still did well live against the drunkies at my card club in Dallas and at the riverboats in Shreveport, but...nowhere near good enough to say I was doing anything more than having fun at a slightly profitable hobby).

Actually, all of that would be true of me about 9 months ago. Today, I am still a crappy poker player in relation to where I want to be...but 9 months ago I would have considered someone like me to be an F'ing genius poker player.

I do make a respectable living at poker now, so I'm pretty happy...though I seriously need to keep improving.

I don't have complete records from then but I think I was 1-tabling the $55s with nothing like an adequate bankroll, of around $1k at the very most a year ago, in fact I might even have still be on the $22s.. had no idea of concepts like ICM or really what on Earth I was doing for the most part.

I can attest to this. Very well done.

Anyone that can pull a BR bootstrap like that is worthy of recognition.

Hmm... what's changed in 6 months? Well $50 used to seem like alot of money to me. Now anything less than 1k seems kinda small.

A year ago today I had never played a hand of poker in my life, I was talked into depositing £10 into getminted poker by a friend and started playing 50p MTTs and 5p/10p limit

A year later I'm showing a first year profit of around $7k, and have accounts on about 35 different sites

I wish I had the focus to stick to one game and become good enough at it to move up, but I get bored playing the same thing all the time and flit between holdem, 7CS, S&G, limit, PL and NL, the only constant is every hand goes towards a bonus somewhere ;-)

A year ago I was playing 5/10 trying to make it to the party 15/30 games. I've definately improved immensely as a player although there's so much I still need to learn. I just got HEPFAP.

Certainly do, I reckon I'll hit 50 sometime in the next 3 or 4 months ;-)

The vast majority of those are one shot whore the sign-up bonus deals, I only go back for more if they offer a reload at 10x raked or better!

a year ago I made in 6 months what it takes the average american 5 years to make. I then foolishly thought I was too good and making thousands of dollars a day was easy.

Unfortunately I fell into some pitfalls of gambling, playing baccarat, BJ, paigow, and worst of all sports betting and strip clubs. I guess the casinos call it the pit for a reason. Actually had a lot of winning day but my losing days were Big. Lost everything.

Started at 3/6 6max built up my roll to play 20/40 in a month. Promptly lost most it at Pinnacle sports

Repeated the cycle at 3/6 6 max and 200 or 400 NL. Built up my roll to play 10/20. Going to uninstall and cancel any sites that have BJ, or sports betting and I plan on concentrating on poker and finding a job. Not so much for monetary reasons but a lot of free time gets me in trouble and poker gets really boring after almost 3 years of full time play.

A year ago I was a prop for a small-medium sized poker room. Now I webmaster a big portal and hardly have time to play at all. A year can change a lot of things.
