First hand, no reads.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tournament ($10 buy-in), blinds (t10/t15) (10 handed) link (http://www.darksun.lunarpages.com/poker/)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, K/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
1 folds, UTG+1 calls $15.00, Hero raises to $45.00, 4 folds, Button calls $45.00, 1 folds, BB calls $30.00, 1 folds.

Flop: ($135.00) 6/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 9/images/graemlins/heart.gif (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $100.00, Button calls $100.00, BB calls $100.00.

Turn: ($435.00) Q/images/graemlins/heart.gif (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $350.00, Button calls $350.00, BB folds.

Should I have just checked behind here?

River: ($1135.00) T/images/graemlins/club.gif (2 players)
Hero checks, Button raises all-in ($305.00), Hero raises all-in ($305.00).

Did I have the proper odds to call this? Will he have Kx enough times to justify a call or is it just too likely that he has a jack or two pair of some kind?

Raise more preflop. Something like 75. If he still calls that, the pot will be close to 200 on the flop. On the flop, bet around 150. Then go all in on the turn.

I think that's a common and major leak--betting 3x-4x BB at level 1... especially at the 10s.

I make it 90 to go with AK.

I thought the common play was to keep the pot small with AK preflop.

raising to 3xBB with AK preflop in the first level is a recipe for eleventy billion callers.

you want to keep the pot *manageable*, but you also want to isolate. which is why generally, in the first level, something like 4xBB + 1BB per limper is generally ok, or even a bit more (5xBB + 1BB per). The other thing is, the donks are all still around at this point -- so they will call your bet with dominated aces and kings, no problem. Make them pay while you're ahead, especially given their reverse implied odds.

AK is a premium hand. If weaker hands are going to call, make them pay for it. Sure, you gotta be careful if you don't hit the flop and hit aggression, but you gotta make them pay to see that flop.

Ignoring the other streets, I have to fold this on the river, despite the huge pot odds. The board is awful, and I'm seeing very little I can beat.
