I've been working out and getting bigger, but I long for tone rather than bulk. Any suggestions? Should I run more?

Diet, and also if your looking for more tone, do more resistance training.

Down the weight a little bit and double the reps your currently doing. Also do your weight training circuit style. Move quicly from one exercise right into another, you'll burn more calories during your workout.

Word and after you're done with circuit training sign up for some of those aerobics classes they have at your bally's. I hear those can really shape and tone.

Add a nice tube pre-amp, run the whole rig through a Fender Bassman. Think about changing your pickups to humbuckers if you haven't already.

I'm surprised that I didn't get more of a reaction out of this one (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Number=3798151&page=&view=&s b=5&o=&vc=1), but it was probably a bit too obscure.

I'd recommend opposite of the lift more and lighter. That's exactly how you work either endurance or build mass.

If you want hard muscle, lift as heavy as you can, for low reps. You will gain only moderate mass, if any, unless you eat a lot more. But your muscles will become like iron. And your strength will go way up. It's myofibrillar vs. sarcoplasmic hypertrophy. Unlike the muscles that need to be "pumped up" to look big or properly shaped and not deflated, like you get from pumping high reps and lots of weights while looking in the mirror in the gym and thinking how awesome you are, muscle put on with heavy weight is much more dense muscle that looks more toned all the time.

Keep your workouts short and intense, dont overtrain. Cardio should be 20 about minutes and very intense, do HIIT. Keep your diet clean and you will lose fat. Doing more reps or changing your workout will do nothing. Tone is simply a function of body fat percentage. You can do a million crunches a day but if you stay at 14% body fat you'll never see your abs, its just not going to happen.

That Tone won't help the OP become more tone, though.

1) Start with Tony Little for the initial physical fitness program.

2) Get Tony Danza to give you emotional support. He is undoubtedly a great friend.

3) Tony Robbins will help you gain a positive outlook on things. You know, to counter all the frustration that comes with trying to do something about your body.

4) Tony Soprano will make damn sure you listen to the other three.
