Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t300 (4 handed)

UTG (t3000)
Button (t3000)
SB (t1500)
Hero (t5000)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J /images/graemlins/spade.gif, T /images/graemlins/club.gif.
1 fold, Button bets t900, SB folds, Hero calls.

Flop: (t2050) A /images/graemlins/club.gif, 6 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 4 /images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players)

Hero bets t600, Button folds.

***I've been doing this almost standard now, if the stacks and board are like this or so. The t600 is all i will spend, im gone if he plays it. But seems he needs ace to call, and may not have one...1/3 pot size is sufficient to find out, i think. I'd get nothing if i check, as im not calling anything, and he will bet alot that he wont call.***

13,500 chips in play
and 3BB has been out standard bring in since bubble started.
i dont feel he's committed.
my p/f call may not be super-sharp, but i think its ok

/images/graemlins/laugh.gif im thinking if i flop a pair it probably good hand, but i wouldnt need just a J or T to take the pot.
of course many different flops i have to fold /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Yeah I don't think the call is like super horrendous or anything, but like you told me, "Position position position"! And also you've gotta factor in the times that he's got you dominated and you give him a courtesy double up. Still, you're good postflop so you get a little leeway in making these calls. /images/graemlins/cool.gif

With him raising so much I don't like just calling preflop. Either I feel like I can push him off of it preflop and I'll push, or I just let it go. The flop looks good against an opponent who isn't super loose (or super smart).

What Newt said.

Forgetting preflop, that is a situation where I think a small bet is very good against most opponents.

No, it's not wise, I fold preflop. You have Jack high.
