View Full Version : Hourly win rate?

I've been playing in a $3-$6 game w/a full kill whenever one player wins two pots in a row. When figuring my hourly win rate, do I take the fact that it is a kill into consideration? What do I make 1BB equal to? $9? Less? More? If I make the $6 = 1BB, I am killing the game at something like 4+ BB/hr, which is making me question what I should consider a big bet in this game. All comments appreciated. Thanks.

At your next session, keep track of how many 3-6 hands are played and how many 6-12 hands are played. If it's a 50/50 split, the $9 would be a big bet. If it's a 75/25 split, then $7.50 wouild be a big bet.

Dynasty,
Should I do that for only hands that I am involved in (i.e. - call, raise, or am the kill), or all hands that I am dealt in? Thanks.

I would count all hands regardless of whether you play in them or not for several hours. You'll get a decent sample size which should be the same as only pots you contest in the long run.

I often play an 8-16 game with a 1/2 kill. I generally assume a big bet to be about $17 in this game. The way I figure is that it's about 7-handed on average, there are usually two tightish players (including me), and 5 loose players. Back of the envelope calculations, say the loose players each win 1/6 pots and the tight players each win 1/12 pots. That means the chance of a kill pot is 5 * (1/6)^2 + 2 * (1/12)^2 == 11%, so the average big bet size in my 8-16 half kill game is .89 * 16 + .11 * 24 == $16.9. If the same #s apply to your 3-6 full-kill game then the average big bet size would be .89 * 6 + .11 * 12 == $6.70.

(although these numbers should be slightly higher because I'm ignoring the cases where somebody wins > 2 consecutive pots)

You could also do what Dynasty suggests and keep track of the number of kill pots in one session. I'd guess you're going to come up with a number like avg big bet of $7 or so unless there's a maniac killing every pot.
