View Full Version : $11: lvl4 is this a easy call?

I am paying t140 for a t340 pot, which I thought was a good price. UTG Was the shortest stack so I figured his pushing range could be wide. Was 59o too bad to call? And was my stack size a factor to change my decision. I mean maybe I should fold and keep FE intact for future steals. Blinds is going to increase after 3 more hands...Thanks...

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx (http://www.zerodivide.cx/converter)

BB (t5162)
UTG (t239)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 9/images/graemlins/club.gif, 5/images/graemlins/diamond.gif. Hero posts a blind of t100.
1 fold, UTG raises to t239 (All-In), 3 folds, Hero (poster) calls t139.

Flop: (t478) 8/images/graemlins/club.gif, 2/images/graemlins/diamond.gif, 3/images/graemlins/diamond.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t478) 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t478

Results in white below:
UTG has Jh Qs (one pair, eights).
Hero has 9c 5d (one pair, eights).
Outcome: UTG wins t478.

EDIT: Some problem with the converter. Hero is BB(t872) and villian is UTG+1(t239) .

Unless you KNEW he was pushing 55+ and only 55+, then yes this is a correct call.

Is this necessarily true? i would probably make this call, but I know a lot of players who wouldnt...

If Hero folds he has 770 or so...adn if he calls and loses he has 500...pretty big difference at this stage in the tourney, no?

Just looking for explanation, result that I would call doesn't mean i know why...(other than the 3:1 odds)...But at what point is ChipEV not the same as CashEV for SNG...?

I'd fold. Bigstack is in BB (unless there is something wrong with the converter). And even if you fold you have the second stack. By calling and losing you have gone from having the luxury of being somewhat free to pick your spots to being forced to push even very marginal hands.

Yes there is a 35-40% you win this hand but I would want that to be 45%-50% to play here. Lets say Q2s+ or something.

Now if there were 3-4 stacks with 1500+ chips, I might call. But when you have every other smallstack in almost desperation mode I'm fine with folding.

I rather keep my t139 here and wait for a better place to get my money in.
