I really like a fold here. In an unraised pot, the range of hands is just too big and you could be up against a flopped straight or (rarely) a higher set. The flopped straight is just too likely and its not worth going broke on. If you would have made a bigger raise to his $6, which you should have done, then you may be stuck. Simply doubling the $6 is a bad play...you would be better of just calling the $6.

I raised it to 15 total. It didn't show up quite right.

I am now leaning towards just check-calling the flop. This pot had nearly everyone at the table in it. It is pretty easy to be beat here. I think this is a situation where you need to play the set more on the passive side. Play it like your on a draw to a fullhouse
