View Full Version : Most profitable hand?

10-27-2005, 01:53 PM
I was curious as to what fellow posters thought to be the most profitable preflop hand? Before everyone starts yelling "Duhhh..AA", keep in mind I am asking most profitable not highest win %. A brief explanation would be appreciated as well..

Duhhh... AA. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Because most of the money goes in preflop in SNGs, and it has the highest win percentage.

10-27-2005, 01:57 PM
However, there are frequently times when AA should be folded preflop, as it does not play well in 'multi-way pots'.

LOL..Some real charmers here..So you just get AA preflop and go all in and everyone calls everytime..Hmm must be some high end games?? Level 1-4/5 I seriously doubt your getting my entire stack with AA but if you have AA I just may get yours. I ask this question as I heard it being discussed on ESPN during a recent WSOP event by Phil Gordon. MTT's are a different animal but similar logic could be applied but I guess its funner to post "This sucks"!

If you've played SNGs at all, you'll know that SNGs and MTTs are COMPLETELY different. Harrington admits it in HoH, and nearly and good player here will attest to that. Maybe it would be better off placed in the MTT forum?

AA can be very profitable in the SNGs with total donks.

and while I'm at it...

But what if you're down to 6 players on the Step Higher 5 and on the big blind and everyone before you goes allin? Duh. AA goes to the muck--instafold. AA is not necessarily profitable as you may think.

Plus, half the time I get heads-up I get sucked out on anyway. Better to wait for a solid edge post-flop, where experts make all their money.

so it's ok to fold hands that u are 70%+ against pf because u remember the times u get sucked out on and forget the times u don't, so it seems like u get sucked out on too often with premium hands?

I love it when people defy math like this. You DON'T get sucked out on HALF the time.

It is so RARELY correct to fold AA PF that most people shouldn't even consider doing it.

In a Step 5 higher it is SUPER unlikely that all the other 6 remaining players push in front of you while you hold AA.

Most experts who make their money with stellar post-flop play do so in tournaments with deeper stacks than the low-limit Party SNGs.

This thread sucks.

this guy just want you to answer what they want to hear.

Look the most profitable hands are:
1)AKs
2)TT
3)AA

AKs because when you hit your TP you will get payed off so frequently, plus its not that hard to fold if you miss the flop. flushes are very profitable as well, but those typical 15 outers are profitable as well.
Look with AA you win the MOST pots, but Im not sure about EV, with AA you win a small pot or you lose a big one, how many times have you lost to a set, do you get action from that small pair when he doesnt hit..i thought so. Also when u hit your set, theres only one ace left on the deck...not sure youre going to get payed off.
The most profitable pocket pair is TT because you have more straights possibility, I would say most pocket pairs dominate aces with stacks deep enough( however lets not forget aces are more poritable against unpaired hands), TT is the best because you have straight possibilites and u can get away more easily from your hand.

My most profitable hand after 1000 $55+5 Stars turbos is:

AA had +130,255 after 201 deals (least of all pairs)

P.S. How many times have you seen 5 people go all in before you at a Step 5 higher?

P.P.S. This thread isn't that bad, because I can see how in certain situations other hands, MIGHT be more profitable (e.g. people are more likely to call your pf raise with an A, and thus having AA reduces pf callers), but still, [ QUOTE ]

You're wrong here. AA can quite often get the entire stacks of hands like AK or QQ or hands that hit top pair. Add to that the number of times that you win decent sized(but not entire stacks) pots with it, and its easily the most profitable hand.

Think about it this way...if another hand was really more profitable then you'd rather have that other hand. Would you really rather have another hand than AA?
