View Full Version : Need Recommendations for Hobby/$$$$

03-10-2002, 03:15 PM
Looking for recommendations on a hobby that could also produce income. Something that you could play/work at maybe 5 hours a day. I'll list some areas I've done or have considered. I've bought/sold real estate, but that is long term commitment to capital. I've invested in quality no load mutual funds for 20 years and love it, but that only requires adjusting maybe a couple times/year. I've never purchased individual stocks, options or traded. I gather commissions will eat up your profits at best? I've played blackjack seriously for 2 years-that's a dead end once the casinos discover your an advantage player. I've looked at sports betting, but I would have to invest online and from what I understand the online sports books aren't to fond of doing business with someone who knows what they are doing and is a consistent winner(like blackjack). I've played holdem poker for almost a year both online and B&M with success. I enjoy the game but it can be boring waiting hours to get a hand to play. Plus the short term luck factor is sometimes hard to handle.

So any ideas on areas a person could spend maybe 5 hours/day, enjoy and pickup some income. Please comment on the above areas plus add any others. Maybe you know a frind or a family member who has caught onto something that is unique.

I'm a person that will work 24/7 to get a handle on something, but usually get bored with it then move onto something else. I know there is something out there for me if I can just find it.

Sincerely,

Flipper

Hey Flipper,

Do income taxes for a couple months a year. H and R Block might offer a class in your area. 12 hours later Boom!

Buy and old car and restore it.

Collect anything antique.E-bay is a nice place to start, and there are all kinds of websites selling good old stuff.

Be a coach. Write a book about your life.

Invent a new beer.

Build a better mouse.

Find some elderly folks and donate your time.

I got a thousand other good original Ideas. But some will get laughed at and others will get stolen.I don't want any competition.

One thing you might do is just look around your neighborhood and find a need to fill.

Gook Luck!
