View Full Version : Live final table - tough play

The scene is a live, 50 person tournament. The standard is quite low, although there are a few real sharks, maybe 1 or 2 left at the final table.

Top 5 pay with
5th getting $30
4th $50
3rd $70
2n2 $100
1st $250
So there is a big jump at each level, playing for 5th or 4th is pointless.

8 players left Blinds are 150-300,
Hero is BB and has 650 after posting
Villain (utg) 2500
antagonist MP 300

Villain raises 300, antagonist goes all in for his last 300 hero wakes up in the big blind with ATs

Villain has just become chip leader and has thrown his weight around but I know him to be a very tight player normally. The antagonist is a fish and could have anything, particularly since he only has another 3 hands before the blinds come around.
I think I have 3 options
1. Fold and wait for a better holding
2. Raise all in for another 350
3. Call and push the flop regardless

What do you guys think?

don't think it matters, just get your chips in the middle

There is no waiting for a "better" holding. It sounds like you have been doing too much of that already. Put all your chips in the middle here instantly.

if youve only got 350 left after a call, then its an obvious push.
one big problem, your giving the chip leader great odds for calling, which he will do. and the only reason you wuold push in this situation is to get it heads up with the short stack, but because you have so little chips yourself your push is going to get called.
i would fold here. and push in the SB no matter what you hold.
