PP $200NL, 6 handed.

Hero is SB with A /images/graemlins/club.gif A /images/graemlins/heart.gif. Effective stacks $200. One limper, Button raises to $10, Hero raises to $25. Limper calls after much deliberation. Button Folds. Flop:

K /images/graemlins/spade.gif9 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif5 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

Hero bets $40 (~2/3 pot). Villain thinks for a long time and calls. Turn:

3 /images/graemlins/spade.gif

Hero bets $60, Villain pushes fairly quickly. It is ~$60 more to call a gigantic pot . . . getting almost 6-1. I felt 99% certain I was beat here.

Yeah, I think you're beat too. Don't lose your stack w 1 pair but his quick push has me suspicious. I would love to know if he set that up w top set on flop and the long pause on flop.

Hmm, getting those odds I don't think I can fold

But I really really like a larger raise preflop, minimum $30

To me, top set is unreasonable here. He open-limped from 3rd position in 6-max and then passed up the opportunity to re-raise with KK . . . I've seen donks do this with KK before, but if he's that damn lucky after playing like a sped, so be it. I think my pre-flop raise was too big for 55, probably for 99 too. But you never know with these donks.

He only had to call $15, well within the 5/10 rule

Ok. I don't play 6max; I should've said.

If you can eliminate sets w a high degree of certainty you must call imo. I'm not going to just assume the guy has a flush.

edit: esp w his pause call quick push routine.

What's the 5/10 rule?

He had limped, so it was an $18 call. After one raiser and a re-raiser . . . not knowing what the original raiser is going to do behind me . . . I muck 55 and 99 here faster than you can say fold.

10-26-2005, 02:29 AM
Oh my bad, thought he was preflop raiser. Well, now it's borderline for the 5/10 rule, but probably a muck since he is not closing the action

However this is what I think, I don't know what your typical opponent thinks with a low pp

So yeah I still go to the felt here

Wanted to post the results before going to bed (in white below).

Hero calls. River bricks. Chips are shoved to hero. Reviewing hand history shows that villain had A /images/graemlins/diamond.gifQ /images/graemlins/diamond.gif

make it at least 34 PF.
1. You're OOP
2. It looks like a resteal, he may go nuts with JJ, AK, etc
3. You narrow his range of hands.

On the end, CALL.
