Is this too tight?

I'm relatively new to holdem and people have told me that I am too tight and need to play more hands. I stay in the hand for what looks to be between 22-28% of flops. Now I understand that some people like to see flops and will play more starting hands that are not as strong. I also understand this to be because of their confidence on playing the hand after the flop (something that I think I need a lot of work on, playing after the flop). Is there a percentage of hands that one should aim for?

Are you playing 6-max or full ring?

usually its full ring, either a sng or a mtt.

If you are new you are better off too tight than too loose. You have to loosen up some though once the table gets shorter. That % would not be bad for cash games but for sng's that is low cause you are playing short a lot.
