Hypothetically, say you stupidly played a $650 sat and won a WPT-Carribean seat but were too young? Would you get fake ID? How good does this fake ID have to be?

you know you only have to be 18 right?

just get someone that looks kinda similar to you and use their ID.

I understand this.

Also, how strong are they gonna be about checking ID? (My Friend) doesn't want to like, forfeit prizes

if you make the money they are gonna be strict, if your not 18 why were you even try to qualify, so you could rack up $W, in other PCA sats?

If hes under 18 I wouldn't even try it...

AlphaWice

what other choice does he have then? forfeit the tourney?

how would they check your age anyway?

TomHimself

idk, but im sure they will check your info when doing taxes if you cash. and if ur under 18 i assume ur not playing under ur real name on stars so stars will give u the seat with the persons name affiliated wit ur account then you will have to go as that person and then if u cash have to file it as their taxes or sumthing.

not worth the hassle IMO

AlphaWice

who does taxes?

it's possible for stars to change the name, ive done it before.

Well it certainly would be worth the hassle taht you listed...

the hassle that might not be worth it, would be the criminal charges. But the chances of those are slim, so i think you'd probably be fine.

I wouldn't try playing with any fake ID, the chance of getting caught is high, and your friend would probably spend more time panicked about being caught than enjoying the experience.

id say it at least partly depends on whether or not your friend can pass for 18. If he looks like hes 12, that would probly be a problem

10-26-2005, 12:20 AM
hypothetically, i'd laugh my ass off when you get busted...

I realize this contributes nothing... But if he already got a seat and is under 18, hes retarded.

Are you saying I should try to bet against my friend?

I would think he is a pretty smart kid win at <18. Perhaps impulsive, shortsighted, and naive, but not retard.

messin with the law is risky business.
i suggest you try to get the entry in cash somehow instead of going on the cruise. because if you get caught, you lose it all.

WPT you have to be 21+. Take it from someone who won one, then later was told it wasn't 18+ despite the fact that it was outside the country.

this is wrong. the one in the bahams is 18+.

if you win 1st place though, you forfeit your freerll into the WPT championship event (becaus eyou're not 21)

Um, am I the only one who doesn't want to be caught trying to enter or leave the US with a false passport, birth certificate (whatever) hidden in my bags?

Next stop, WPT-Guantanamo!

Sell 100% of your action if you can find buyers, and be sure to bust out on the first day..

Or better yet, sell 150% of your action!

I won a seat and cashed in the aussie millions from pp, so I may be able to offer some help.

For one, no one from pp actually ever checked my id. They had a meet and greet but other than that I could have been anyone for all they know.

I think, but am not positive that the pokerroom checked my id when they started the tournament. It was not a memorable experience if they did, but quite possibly they may have just asked my name and showed me to my seat.

Finally, I know they did not check my id when I cashed. After I busted, I was just ushered to the cashier's stand where I was paid, no questions asked.

Now this was australia, where no taxes were taken or tax material given. If you have ever cashed in a tournament at a casino, you know that they require you to fill out tax paperwork and the staff checks your id to make sure you are not lying.

Personally, I would give it a shot. By no means would I make/use a fake passport or anything like that. But if you can get a fake drivers license with the intent of only showing it to the pokerroom people, I am sure you would be fine, as long as you don't look 12. In reality, no one is going to send you to jail for using a fake id in a poker tournmanent. So really as long as you aren't stupid the worst that happens is you go to a beautiful resort, and don't get to play any poker. You'll have a good time regardless.

i think any winnings are credited to your pokerstars account and no taxes are withheld

unless you plan on winning the tournament a "novelty" drivers license showing you to be 18+ should suffice

A few thou, and not getting in thousands of dollars worth of legal trouble (i.e. lawyers fees), seems like a very good thing to me.

You need to show a passport to get on and off a cruise ship. I wouldn't want to get causght with a fake passport these days, you'll do time for that for sure.
