View Full Version : Mayonnaise, Ketchup or Mustard?

I find mayonnaise to be one of the most disgusting substances in the world, but a lot of people enjoy it on sandwiches and other things. I *think* it's very unhealthy and fattening. I could be wrong on that.

Ketchup is tasty and goes with the staples of american diets, hamburgers and french fries. It can make many untasty things tasty. It is heavy with bad added sugar.

Mustard rules. Tasty and healthy. That is all.

I love mustard. By far my favorite.

Mayo is a condiment for which I have only recently gained an appreciation.

Where are the options for "All of the Above" and "None of the Above"?

Mayo is egg whites and oil mixed. What's so bad about that? (Disclaimer: I do not like ketchup, mustard, or mayonnaise).

Durkee's Dressing
Coctail Sauce (and varieties)
Miracle Whip
Kraft's Sandwich Spread

All are viable options, depending on the item you're condimentizing.

Mustard and Ketchup/Catsup come in so many friggin' flavors/colors it takes 6 minutes of my time finding what the hell I want. You specify none of the lebenty-leben choices available.

You omitted "None of the above."

All this adds up to - not so great poll.

I currently live a scandanavian country where they mix ketchup, mayo, paprika, and a little pineapple juice together (it is pink) and call it coctelsosa - Cocktail sauce. Believe it or not, It is dabom'!

which is partly why i posted it. a radio group poll of just those 3 generic choices isn't really doing justice to condiments man. You could have a poll of what the best mustard is with 10 choices easy...

So you'd want me to put each of the 100 flavors for each? That would be a great and decisive poll.

None of the above = don't vote.

This poll is retarded.

These aren't exclusive and are situational in their application.

Sorry but that is incorrect. Mayo is an mixture of yolks and oil. Depending on the extra spices added, mayo can be a truly wonderful thing.

Mustard is the god of condiments.

There's still a place for others. Pawing worshipfully at the feet of mustard.

It depends.

Mayonaisse is far and away superior when making a tuna fish sandwich. It's such an automatic choice that only weirdos would make a tuna fish sandwich with ketchup or mustard.

It's easy to come up with similar examples for ketchup and mustard.

How is that possible? These 3 condiments cover such a broad range of tastes! Is it the consistency that gets you?

i agree. i've never actually had it though.

i remember when i was a kid, babysitting some other little kids, the little girl wanted me to make her a sandwich and grabbed the jar of mayo from the fridge. i told her i wasn't going to touch it and if she wanted mayonaise on it she'd have to do it herself. mayo creeps me out.

i'm a terrible person.

i pretty much have the same feelings towards mustard as i do mayonaise.

i like ketchup though. but i can't actually put it on anything, like if i eat a hamburger or hot dog, i'll put ketchup on a plate and dip the burger/dog into the ketchup, then it is good. if someone put ketchup on my hamburger bun i probably wouldn't eat it.

Depends on what you're putting it on/dipping in it...but generally, for me:
mayo>ketchup>mustard.

This poll is flawed.

Each has its place when used in combination with certain ingredients.

Mayo is better than Ketchup if your talking Chicken Sandwich, but vice versa if we are talking hot dog

Ranch is clearly the obvious answer.

I'll very hesitantly go with mustard. Mayo and ketchup both go on seperate items (unless it's a burger), but mustard can (usually) bridge that gap.

Mayo on sandwiches. Ketchup on hotdogs and fries. All on burgers.

You can't say any is really "better" than the other because they really go well with different things.

Given the choices, mustard is by far the best. It can be spicy and brown, or yellow and crappy. Ketchup can be spelled like that, or Catsup (which confuses me, but it's cool). Mayo is Teh Spawn of teh Debil and is very difficult to spell correctly! It is emulsified and I do not trust it.

BUT hot sauce >>>>>>> ALL
