View Full Version : a rebuy bonus in NL ring game... worth it?

Here's the deal:
$0.50-$1.00 NL ring game. $50 min/$150 max. 5% bonus for rebuying (not sure of the exact policy but I assume it's after busting).

Does it make sense to buy-in for the minimum, playing an aggressive shorthanded game, and then buy-in for the max if I go bust?

Verify the policy.

If you can buyin for the minimum, fold a blind, then rebuy with the bonus then it can't possibly not be +EV.

But consider, 5% of $150 is only $7.50. Do you really want to piss away forty bucks to get the chance at an extra $7.50?

Well the idea isn't to play terrible poker with the min buy-in. Moreso, I would play a selective but very aggressive shortstack game. I know its always best to buy-in for the maximum b/c implied odds are bigger. The other thing the deal has going against it is that the min buy-in is actually really high.

When it all comes down to it, it's seven dollars and fifty cents which won't buy you a package of underwear at walmart.

You'll have to create a rule that prevents the player from busting $50, buying $150+7.50 and then just leaving with his free money without making it too constricting.

Overall, appears exploitable with collusion.

I say if someone wants to pay $50 for a "free" $7.50 then he's more than welcome to do so.
