Should have maybe been in the Psychology-forum, but can anybody explain why anybody does it? I thought trolls wanted attention, and by ghost bumping they don't achieve that /images/graemlins/confused.gif.

Idiots want revenge. This is a good way for them to get it, in their mind, for being ridiculed here for their idiocy.

i see it as being on par with being a troll

honestly I would love someone to ghost bump threads in the strategy forums, just to keep noobie questions from happening, as faqs obviously dont work, and its a hassle to try and get stickies put up.

what exactly is "ninja/ghost bumping"?

Obviously replying to a thread to get it uppermost, but then deleting your post again, to make it invisible who bumped it.

Google sez ghost bumping is adding to your own thread, and immediately deleting the bump, to get it on page 1.

Still in the dark on the ninja thing though.

Since you live in a remote part of the UK you can't expect to know all about the new cool stuff.

Ninja bumping is the same as ghost bumping.

There used to be a bunch of Wake_Up_Call__ type gimmicks doing the same in the zoo a while back.

Its where you bump a thread, but then immediately delete your post, so that the thread gets bumped but nobody knows it was you.

When I first saw the resurrected threads I was confused and bewildered. Then I laughed when I saw the phrase ninja bump. Brilliant. Then, as usual, the [censored] it up by doing it too much.
